How goes the decluttering? Have you managed to rehome anything? Find a stash of things that were no better than rubbish, and bin them? Clear out a stash and now have an empty space? Anything, small or large, physical or virtual, counts as a win!

Things got a bit complicated for me, and I completely failed to remember the weekly posts for all of January. So! this could be a weekly check in, if all you have the oomph for is to think about something you've achieved in the last week. Or it could be a skite about everything you uncluttered in January (although, given weather and assorted other events, some of you will presumably have not had a spare moment to think about decluttering, and that's okay).

This might be the start of a new weekly-ish posting; I can but hope!

Hi Everyone!

This is your check in for the week ending Friday 20th December. Have you found something to declutter? Made a plan that you can implement later? What are your recent decluttering wins? -- big, small, it all counts.

Open to regulars, drive by commenters, and lurkers alike!

(and we'll just quietly ignore the fact that I'm taking advantage of living in a +8UTC timezone to post while it is still Friday somewhere, shall we :) )

note: there might not be a post in a week's time, because I'm going to be somewhere halfway across Australia (epic roadtrip, wahoo!), and I don't know whether I'll have connectivity, let alone the energy to post. I hope that everyone's festive season goes well, and that for all of you the Solstice, Hannukah, Christmas, New Year, and any other festivals happening go fabulously.

Hi Everyone!

This is your check in for the week ending Friday 6th December. Have you found something to declutter? Made a plan that you can implement later? What are your recent decluttering wins? -- big, small, it all counts.

This is your weekly(ish) check in for the last week in October (and, because I forgot entirely last week, you can skive off this week, and tell us about something you decluttered last week, and get to feel good about it!)

What decluttering have you done? Anything you want to get done by the end of the month?

Also, because November is a month of all sorts of different challenges, I'm contemplating experimenting with posting here daily -- I know from a crafting group I'm in that the daily posting is very motivating for me, and I have so much decluttering that needs doing. I can't promise that I'll make the whole month, or absolutely every day, but if I do go ahead, the intent is there.

This is your weekly (ish) check in for the second week of October. What have you done to make your space less cluttered? Anything, big, small, tedious, joyful, any of it counts!

Did you set a goal last week? Did you make progress toward it?

In comments on a post a while back, I committed to doing weekly posts through October (if anyone wants to put their hand up to do future months, that would be great. Otherwise, we'll see whether I remember to keep going).

So, this is your weekly (ish) check in for the first week of October. What have you done to make your space less cluttered? Anything, big, small, tedious, joyful, any of it counts!

And as a goal: is there something you want to achieve before the next check in?

How did last week go for you all? Progress you want celebrated, or situations you'd like commiseration for?

Acquisitions. )

Did not buy a new piece of plastic for the greenhouse because I found an old spare. \o/ This almost certainly means there's one missing from somewhere in the set-up and I should probably work out where, but it's Clearly Not Important and, hey, greenhouse! Instead of a sad wonky frame and a mildly alarming stack of toughened glass!

And got rid of:
  • the rest of the set of Freecycle pans. (I wound up offering to take all of the ones the Freecycler was offering, and take over responsibility for distributing them -- the person who gave them to me is currently surviving a House Clearance Saga, was willing to drop them off with me rather than having me collect, and was very clearly relieved at the concept of any further logistics re that set of things no longer being their problem. We designated a new Charity Shop Box on the assumption that no-one would ask for them, and after a week we'd take them to the charity shop; in fact someone did ask for them, and they are already gone!)
  • our stash of expanded polystyrene, to the not-quite-local tip Household Waste Recycling Centre, because the actually local one is under some kind of weird hybrid management and doesn't accept polystyrene; the slightly further away one that does was a trip we combined with pan delivery, though!
  • a small stash of toothpaste tubes and pumps from various bottles, to the Recycle at Boots scheme!
  • two empty SodaStream canisters to a local retailer of same (we now have a large CO2 cylinder we can refill our remaining small ones from...); turns out you get £1 per bottle you return if you're not buying new ones!

And this week? I have finished all my current (digital) library loans and I'm expecting to have at least a little time before the next batch of holds show up (doubtless all at once), so It Is Time to read one of the hardcopy books I've not yet got around to but have designated for probable donation once I have read them. Here goes!

In my last decluttering effort, I shipped off a box of handmedowns!  Threw out a decoration that needed repair and I accepted I would never repair it.  Weird decluttering thing:  in this shelter at home pandemic, we've been ordering delivery more often, and I am THROWING OUT all condiments we won't use that restaurants insist upon giving us.  I just don't need all that duck sauce or weak soy sauce.  Trashed.  I took the bag of clothes to the community closet.

Cooking adventures: I've been trying to use up the foods that have been lingering in the freezer and pantry for who knows how long.  If it's still edible, we're gonna eat it and NOT REPLACE IT.  That's the key!  Why buy more of a thing that we weren't terribly interested in eating the first time?

I'm taking a few months off the decluttering tasks, but habits die hard: we will still throw out the condiments as they arrive.  Donate small piles to stay motivated.  Stop buying weird foods.
