Took a lot of old cardboard boxes and my old sax mic to the recycling centre this morning - tech's moved on so much that if I ever did play another gig, I'd need to buy a new mic and no one would want the old wired one, so it's gone off to recycling along with the old landline phones and a very old, very dead Kindle.

I managed to get three bags of clothing out of the house and to the charity shop while they were open on Sunday. Go me!

Two of the bags had been lurking around my room for literally months since the last time I culled the clothing of the growing younger child; the third I filled when I went looking for some shoes I knew were lurking in a back room. My current trainers are falling apart, I knew we had a stash of shoes, so I went looking. Sadly all the trainers are too big for me (one pair fitted older child, so he kept them) and the remaining shoes were a couple pairs of heeled boots which I don't think I'm ever really going to wear, and a pair of walking sandals which will be useful next summer. So another bag got filled with trainers and boots and added to the drop off haul.

(I have possibly undermined this effort by ordering three new pairs of shoes to arrive tomorrow, but eh, they'll all get worn: going-out trainers, workout trainers, and some heavily-reduced ballet flats to experiment with as officewear. I justify splitting out the trainers on the grounds they should last better if I'm not trying to use the same pair for both gym and clubbing ... I also need to look at my current "office shoes" because I keep avoiding wearing them as the back of the shoe rubs the back of my ankle annoyingly if I walk much in them. Either I fix that or I get rid of the shoes, there's no point keeping them if I never wear them.)

Took all the cookbooks out of their bookshelf, cleaned off the top of the nightstand and will move both later today so I can have an air conditioner installed. I’ll ask Mom later if she wants to get rid of any of the cookbooks.

As for the basement, the tiles finally been installed so it’s a matter of Servpro moving the washer and dryer back to the laundry section, but I’d prefer the vertical freezer to be moved into the main section since it was directly on the other side of where the washer will be returning to and there’s little room to squeeze between them.

I also managed to rake up five bags worth of leaves.

The actual work is finished and all the items have been returned downstairs along with a futon mattress that was originally in the screen house. (Perhaps we could replace our rotting wooden step with a cement one next Spring.) Mom was even able to climb the stairs to see the results for herself rather than us taking pictures on our mobile devices! They even moved the vertical freezer so it’s easier for me to bring the laundry 🧺 back upstairs.
