Out of the house here:

  • one bag of stationery to someone from Freecycle (alas this is stationery I brought into the house for the specific purpose of Freecycling and I've got another two bags to go, but hey)

Moved to a charity shop box:

  • a slate cheeseboard thing I'm vanishingly unlikely to ever use and had totally forgotten we even had
  • a "marble cheese board with cutter", which I got from a charity shop lo these many years ago and have barely used since

Bonus:

  • my partner handled giving an old mattress away on Freegle, and it has GONE
  • and also okayed donating some fabric napkins we are also vanishingly unlikely to use

It's been a while since I did any major decluttering and thought it might be fun and motivating to make a game of it instead of a chore.

So, let's play a decluttering game for March Madness. On March 1st (yes, sorry I'm a day late) declutter one item. It could be anything - a piece of paper or a sofa! On March 2nd, declutter two items. And so on each day, until by March 31st, you are decluttering 31 items that day. If you follow that simple rule every day, by the end of March you will have decluttered 496 items! Isn't that an amazing number?

Nothing says you have to do the entire month, of course. I'm not sure I will manage that myself. But every item gone is a win, in my book.

Yesterday I decluttered an old worn out swim suit. Who knows what it will be today, once I take a look around.

What do you say? Wanna go mad with me this month?

I may possibly have fallen down the rabbit hole of decluttering websites, having followed a link to one that had All The Links to recommended ways to declutter. There are lots of things that I could try, but I've started with A Bowl Full of Lemons which has a 31 day declutter. Having looked at the first one, no way am I going to manage one a day, if they are all as intense as that. Instead, I'm going to work my way through them gradually.
