Welcome to a weekend check-in. I have some tedious paperwork to complete, and I said jokingly to my sibling on the phone "I will probably end up tidying half the house rather than do this paperwork". Only it turns out I need a specific document, and I have lost it ~somewhere~ in this house, and that's not actually a joke any more.

I'll ramble a little in the comments like I usually do, but please check in with your challenges and successes and surprises, and let's cheer each other on a bit.

I really, truly need to get a few boxes of stuff OUT of the house to make room for other things. The logistics have been just annoying enough that I keep failing to do it, but it's really starting to drive me up the wall so I need to do SOMETHING to problem solve it, even if it's not actually getting the things out tonight.

So much commiseration on the annoying logistics.

Once it is done it will be DONE.

Oh, I feel you on this. We have a piece of furniture we have been trying to rehome for a couple of years (people want it, but not enough to collect it) and it is in the front hall and gathering more 'to be rehomed' crap. Good luck on finding a starting point.

I hate that stage of decluttering. Life got a lot easier when I found out that you could book a collection from the British Heart Foundation.

When I first did it, they would show up and just take anything else you had ready to go, but now it's the stuff you booked them to take and no other.

But they will come for a furniture item, plus a bag of clothes, or whatever

Dana K White's system is so good! Good luck finding your Important Document, I hope it turns up quickly.

Just reading the concise summary of events in your post had me squirming with so much sympathy and also stress from remembering similar events in my own paperwork adventures.

Yeah, I think we have all been there: staring into space surrounded by piles. :-/ Yay for pulling yourself together and getting rubbish and recycling "gone" into their bins and everything back on the shelf!

Yes, Dana K White's method is gold for the no piles reason. Did you happen upon the document so far? If not, I am keeping my fingers crossed that you find it soon! But I think lots of progress is coming from this stressful forced tidying anyway...

I got tired of seeing the Boxes Of Unorganized Stuff in the corner, and took apart the one that had the least in it.

Haha, me and my several Boxes of Unorganised Stuff feel both understood and lowkey attacked by this comment. (Just joking *g*)

Yay for getting rid of one entire box and immediately taking it apart, double win! :D

I had an earbud case that wasn't charging properly, and I knew I had another of the same brand in the Box By The Chair, so I got rid of some stuff from there, put some in the Cable And Power Adapter Drawer, and tidied the rest. Not only did I find a working earbud case, I found some wired earbuds and the little strap for my phone! Score!

What a nifty win that along doing your task, you scored some other awesome finds! :D I love it when tidying is rewarded like that.

Really need to build a bookshelf, but god, I really hate building anything. Gonna try to motivate myself on the coolest day this weekend (it's not hot, but I'm one of those people that sweats basically immediately upon moving at even "normal" temperatures).

Also really want to get back into re-bagging my animation cels, so going to attempt to do a few and also scan a few. We'll see where we get!

Yeah, I hate building anything, too, and am not in the sweats immediately upon moving camp but verrrry close to it. Much sympathy on that front! Did you get a cool enough time during this weekend to try starting on the bookshelf?

Had to google what re-bagging animation cels even is but wow, so awesome that you make animation art! How did it go this weekend?

I sadly haven't gotten anything done this weekend and I feel bad about it. But I also acknowledge that it's been a stressful few weeks (manager and one of my closest co-workers are both having their last day this week). Going to give it a go again next weekend.

The animation cels aren't actually ones I've done -- but rather, some that I own from a bunch of anime series from the 90s. Here is my really outdated gallery. I have to sporadically change out the bags and slip in some fresh microchmaber paper as part of caring for them. I recently bought another folio for keeping them organized, but haven't done anything with it. What I might wind up doing is just doing 2-3/cels a day and scanning them at the same time. Might be the only way I get it done at this rate!

Wow, what sounds like such a stressful period at your job. Lots of changes. It makes a lot of sense that you didn't have much energy for projects this past weekend. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you to find time for a little cel bagging and scanning next weekend. :-)

Wow, that is also very cool that you own anime cels from the 90ies. Now I understand even more the need to re-bag those. Thanks for linking to your gallery, such pretty images! I think I've heard of Utena as some kind of classic, very impressive that you got some from that anime.

2-3/cels per day to re-bag and scan them in sounds like a good, sustainable plan. Maybe even only re-bag if time or energy are short. I would love to hear some updates from you on how that project is going in the future. :-)

Oh yay! Scans would be awesome! :D But only if the process of putting scans up on DW doesn't hinder your progress on the overall rebagging project ;-)

I have picked up, read a chapter, and abandoned a book, which is now in the 'to leave the house' box. Need to find more things to go in said box, so it can leave the house next week.

Yay, what a quick decision making on the book!

How did it go with finding some more things for the box? Did you get a chance to search for some? ;-)

So, my uncluttering task for the weekend was supposed to be: continuing work on a crafting project that I have been putting off for months now. This is especially bad as the unfinished project sits in the middle of my free floor space and attracts more clutter in that space. Very recently I have thought of the temporary solution of simply moving the box to the side of the room but I fear if I do that, I may never finish the project and that would be bad. It's a penpalling project and I am supposed to send the results to other people but no set deadline. I think you can see the problem...

Anyway, so far I have not been able to make any progress and I have more pressing penpal letters to write. If I get 15 mins done on the crafting project today, it would be a major victory. I think I need to get into a routine of crafting while watching Youtube but I can't do that lying down, which is the major issue at this point, hehe. I am okay with making no progress on it this Sunday but next week, I have only one shift at work and need to do at least 15 min on the crafting project, no matter what, hot damn!
