My health has taken a turn so decluttering is no longer on the radar. However, it is engrained so tidy a bit here and there as I move around the house, so worry not, my house will not suddenly plunge into the depths of a mess again.
Maybe a slow descent instead? Eh, I'm sick. Who cares.
Still, there are things I can do to keep myself occupied in this homebound, locked down, covid state.
I've expanded the definition of decluttering. Completing projects counts.
I used up the last of some (non-preferred) soaps. I'm reading the books I bought with the intention of reading then giving away (so far, I've only read most of one and decided against reading one at all). I'm trying to keep the pantry semi-organized so we can use what we have. I cleaned the deck and cleaned out the planters for new seeds, in hopes the weather stays nice and we can hang out there. I'm using the pretty yarn. I organized the school supplies for easier access as we embark on distance learning. I did sell and ship one thing, with a prepaid shipping label so I could put it in my mailbox to be picked up.
I plan to put together all the puzzles with the children to identify which puzzles are missing pieces and can be discarded. If I were more crafty that way, I'd use those pieces for new projects, but I know my limits and interests, those puzzles will be thrown out.
Even though all the second hand stores are closed to all donations and I'm not to leave the house in general, there are still things I can do to declutter and keep my house a clean(ish) and peaceful(ish) place.
What homebound activities are you doing to keep yourself occupied? Listening to all your music collection to see what you love? Reading all those books you've bought? Organizing your crafting supplies? Planting those seeds? These projects are decluttering... they are using the things in your home, discarding the things you won't use or aren't useful anymore.

Date: 2020-04-05 09:31 am (UTC)Finishing projects and using (up) things for their intended purposes definitely counts as decluttering! It sounds like you've got an impressive amount of stuff done or in progress. And going through the puzzles seems like an excellent use of time when other leisure options are more limited than usual.
I'm still trying to work through my pile of to-be-read paper books (and e-books), watch my backlog of TV shows and movies, and make progress in the garden -- from planting seeds to removing weeds. Hmm, I also have papers to shred from next week (end of our tax year) so I can add that to my list.
