Mid-week uncluttering
May. 23rd, 2018 09:40 pmHow is your uncluttering going today?
I'm still working on my bingo card -- today I targeted 'under the bed'. This is a simple one, because the lost socks bucket lives there, and it was due time we went through it. Two pairs were found, Middlest claimed three further socks which are apparently pairs of ones that they have in their dance bag, some were kept 'just in case' (ones that still feel nice) and about a dozen were put in the basket for the curbside collection (fabric can't go in our bins). I also put a pair of dance shorts in the basket, and disassembled a pair of shorts and an old pair of work trousers, both of which were too damaged to repair, but will be useful for repairing other things. I used a couple of pieces off the shorts to repair a shopping bag -- it was tedious, and i might not repair that one again, because it is too tight to get in to with the sewing machine.

Date: 2018-05-23 01:59 pm (UTC)I did buy a handful of books from the library's sale table, but I suspect I'll read them and donate most of them back again.
I'm still aiming pretty low at the moment.

Date: 2018-05-24 01:50 pm (UTC)So far I haven't made the place any worse, I'm mostly up on dishes, and... well, that's about it but that's okay.

Date: 2018-05-24 12:27 pm (UTC)You're welcome! I was finding myself getting stuck, so having categories to look through is really helping.

Date: 2018-05-23 04:58 pm (UTC)I did some work on: reducing visual clutter by putting things away; dealing with my email inbox; removing more weeds/bits of overgrown shrubs from my garden; and giving a lot of the bedding plants that I'd propagated over the winter to my sister, which has freed up So Much Space.

Date: 2018-05-23 08:47 pm (UTC)I was mentally grumbling about needing a box for some small items, then remembered a cute box I'd saved hoping it would fit some other small items (it did not).
Some fun with washi tape and paper labels later, the small items are happily contained in the decorated box.
I've isolated a shady spot things don't really want to grow in, in my garden. This is actually good news, because I was just lusting over an herb I wanted but didn't buy because...it wants full shade.
I will take this sort of synchronicity, thanks.

Date: 2018-05-24 12:34 pm (UTC)I'm intrigued -- what is the herb? I... might possibly have some full shade spots that I can't get anything to grow.

Date: 2018-05-24 03:01 pm (UTC)The herb is sweet woodruff. It's a culinary and potpourri herb, with a sweet and grassy smell. I haven't tried it before, so here's hoping!

Date: 2018-05-24 12:32 pm (UTC)Are you passing them on, or managing to make use of them? Either way I'm impressed (I'm eyeing off the yarn in the back hall, and wondering whether I should just accept that I don't need that much yarn, and that even if I do, I can always buy more)

Date: 2018-05-24 12:39 pm (UTC)Passing them on :) I sold 10 skeins last week, and this week brought the remainder to my work crafting group and to my stitch and bitch session to offer to people to give homes.
I need to review my fabric stash, too.

Date: 2018-05-24 12:44 pm (UTC)I'm still hoarding the cotton velvet that I'll probably never use.

Date: 2018-05-24 01:10 pm (UTC)Giving away is a wonderful thing. I was on a yarn diet for a year, using only what I had, and now I can buy a bit here and there, as long as I keep using what I have and it all fits in the storage dresser.
