adair: stack of books (books)
[personal profile] adair posting in [community profile] unclutter
I've not been following the one in, one out system, and I have added at least 15-20 books since January, but I thought 6 boxes of books out deserved recording. I did not count the books, but the boxes are mostly printer-paper boxes, so each one holds quite a bit, possibly at least 20. Books are one of my major clutter problems - they are not really clutter as I interpret it but they take up space I don't have, and cover surfaces that I need for other purposes. Making the decision to let each one go requires effort, and some are hard to let go of.

The six boxes are in the car, and will be driven to my workplace, a university library, tomorrow. They will stack in a space near my office, waiting for the guy from gifts to come and take them away. I'll probably see some of them at the annual book sale in October.

I have established a new printer-paper box ready to receive more books as I decide to let go of more. I have double shelving in the bookcases on 2 walls, a table in the bedroom stacked with about 30 books, a table in the living room with something like 50 books on it, books stacked high on top of smaller bookcases, and generally too many books for the space I have.

Forward, always forward with the efforts to clear space and make what I have findable and usable.

Oh, congratulations! Six boxes of books out is a great accomplishment. And I really appreciate your reflection on letting go of books, even if they aren't like the other "clutter".

I also like your phrasing of "findable and usable" - a good set of goals for me too!
