Does Anyone Unclutter Their Email?

I went through a round of email purging. 3k+ emails in one category have gone to within 2k.

Over the next year or so I'd like to clean up old emails until everything that is needed/desired is in its own folder, and everything else has been deleted.

I fear mine are a lost cause, though switching to a new provider earlier this year helped somewhat.

I have some filters that move 'whenever I feel like it' emails into folders that I look at occasionally and read a few and delete lots unread. I like the idea of having a nearly empty inbox so that only what is important is in there. But in terms of old ones? No, I just file them

I do 'declutter' my subscriptions on a reasonably regular basis. I'm moving away from email subscriptions when there is an RSS option. I'm not more likely to read the RSS, but it doesn't clutter my inbox.

Thankfully there aren't many emails that specifically get saved... So I can pick a category that almost never has something useful in it and delete away.

The specifically saved categories are something to contend with later.

New email inboxes from new jobs are partially what kickstarted the personal email purging.

Everything in those gets moved into a folder or deleted immediately. University and personal email are another issue.
