Before I forget - I counted 38 pieces of clothing that are too worn out to donate - they have been crammed into 2 garbage bags and will go out in the trash on Tuesday!

I also have a stack of items that are worth selling/donating - I just need to decide if I'm going to put in the time/effort to list stuff on ebay/poshmark/mercari or if I will just...bag it all up and donate it.

I was thinking I could maybe donate to a women's shelter - thinking that maybe they might appreciate some nearly new plus-sized clothing?

But apparently they only want absolutely brand new stuff - tags still attached - which I can see - but it does mean that nothing I have, qualifies.

Anyone else want to post their progress for this week?

Any idea why they want the clothing donations new new?

I finished a book and turned in another to the library. Attempt to return two others to the other library didn't go as planned, but they're ready.

I suppose they don't get many people asking the reason. :)

Very probably because they don't have the resources (people, space to sort, places to dispose of it) to deal with the unusable stuff they're likely to get if they don't specify "new new". (I volunteer in a charity shop and some of the junk that's donated to us is unbelievable.)

It may also be a question of wanting to make those women feel valued and to boost their self esteem — that they're deserving of new stuff, not someone else's cast offs (which I know could be beautiful and in beautiful condition, but it's still someone's "discards".)

And going back to your "undonatables", Spiffikins, check if your usual donation place can take bags of stuff for "rag" (that's the stuff they reject and send to recycling). If they do, they may be willing to take those two bags if they're clearly marked as "rag" or whatever term they use, rather than you putting them in the trash.

Also, well done on finding so much stuff to unclutter!

Your point about wanting to make those women feel valued and worthy of new clothing is so good! It is hard when you're trying to build your self-esteem and self-value back up but have to wear shabby old clothes. Plus, if they're trying for job interviews and what not, it is important to look professional.

Woohoo, look at you go! Tackling that closet was a great move, wasn't it? I don't like bothering with the hassle of selling anything (unless it is a very excellent or unusual item) so I've donated or given away everything so far.

Managed to do a bit of decluttering this week myself, although not nearly as much as hoped for. 87 items, including household items and my good china (which isn't high end but pretty and I do love the pattern). It is staged to go, just need to find someone to take it now!

I may have hit the end wall of my daily decluttering game at this point.

Bit late, but accomplishments just the same.

Washed and donated about five bags of pillowcases and flat sheets. Also donated a doll and toy vacuum with detachable Dustvac. Also tossed moldy hot dogs.
