I suppose people with very limited closet space and a lot of clothes do swap out seasonal wardrobes although I don't do that. But I DO use the hanger trick, or at least I used to. I found it to be pretty useful.

A mild year-round climate sounds like a fabulous thing to me!

My issue right now is that I have a big section of closet that has "work" clothing from...20 years ago when I moved here and bought a bunch of more "formal" tops for work (back when I put more effort into things, I guess)

I don't want to get rid of those tops, because if I have to go to a customer site, I drag them out and de-wrinkle them, and wear them :D And I don't really want to box them up because that makes them even *more* wrinkly :D But they are taking up a lot of closet space that I kind of want back :D

But I also might find myself in need of a Real Work Wardrobe at some point!

I am going to have to just go through them, and maybe I will roll them up and put them away. I can cull some stuff from that section of the closet too, I suspect.

EDIT: oh, and yes - this year round climate is great! It's all about the layers!

Hmmm. Would those 20 year old tops still fit? I mean, I've only lost 10 pounds and today's jeans are about falling off me!

Although it's true, you still have a fair whack of working years ahead of you still, and if things change and the office is an option again, you might need a 'work' wardrobe again. Everything is a dilemma, isn't it?
