IN: 1 magazine, 2 seed catalogues
OUT: 6 magazines
MOVED: a crate of books back to my office

I have a tendency to bring stacks of books home, and then they pile up here. Quite a lot (books, magazines, instruments, puppets) has migrated to the house over Advent and Christmas, I'm working at moving it back to the office.

Out:
• two large cardboard boxes
• 5 assorted cords to things I don't think I even own any more
• two bags of general household trash

In:
nothing - woot. :)
dorothean: detail of painting of Gandalf, Frodo, and Gimli at the Gates of Moria, trying to figure out how to open them (joyful rin)

In (2): Cables to hook up TV and DVD.

Out (lots): Clothes that are too small. Notes from a class which turned out to be mostly useless now that I am doing the thing that the class was preparation for. Huge heap of yarn and cloth scraps that I haven't used for (in some cases) 15 years. Single socks (I think I was going to make puppets out of them). Eight-year-old thumb drive with a miniscule amount of memory. Toys lacking nostalgic value. Seven-pound box of oil paints (I know the weight because I mailed them to someone who can use them!). Magazines about Zen (one had an article about decluttering...).

Things I thought were gone forever, which I found in the process (4): Votive candle holder shaped like a rose. Handwritten book of Anglican liturgy. Electric metronome. Vibrating cockring.

I have three bags of books to go out.  I'm waiting to hear back from a friend to find out if she wants any of them.  Any that she doesn't want, I've decided to donate to the library instead of going across town to the used bookstore.  The bookstore doesn't give that much cash and my library is incredibly wonderful.  Plus, when I asked the librarian tonight if they accepted donations, her eyes lit up so bright when she said "yes".

What are other people counting with regard to toiletries?

I was inclined to just ignore the normal run of the mill toiletries eg soap, toothpaste, deodarant etc, but then I realized I had a cupboard full (slight exaggeration but it was a well packed shelf!) of toiletries that people had given me as presents - gift sets of bath oils, shower gels, moisturising creams etc etc. If I've given them away intact and unused I've counted them as a 1 out. Then I came to a decision to make more of an effort to use some of them up, so when I get to the bottom and it's ready to go out, would you count it or not, if it were you?
