Books, books and more books
Jan. 5th, 2011 10:41 pmI have three bags of books to go out. I'm waiting to hear back from a friend to find out if she wants any of them. Any that she doesn't want, I've decided to donate to the library instead of going across town to the used bookstore. The bookstore doesn't give that much cash and my library is incredibly wonderful. Plus, when I asked the librarian tonight if they accepted donations, her eyes lit up so bright when she said "yes".

Date: 2011-01-06 07:22 am (UTC)I used to give my books to the local thrift store but a few months ago took some cookbooks and craft books to our local library. They were thrilled to have them too!
Now I have a bag of.....erotic books that I can't see the library wanting to take. I can't bring myself to toss them out so am thinking of what to do.

If you haven't heard of this the idea is that you list books you are willing to send to other people, people can search for them, and if they want one they give you a point (or two if you are sending abroad). The website notifies you of their address. Then you can "mooch" other people's books with the points you earn.
I've been doing this for coming up on four years and I think it's a great system -- I've got rid of over 350 books this way and acquired over 100. There are some really good books on there, and when I listed some erotic novels (from Black Lace) they were snapped up instantly.
