Hi and Happy New Year!
I'm peaceful_sands in these parts and I'm hoping this comm is going to help me discipline myself into clearing out my clutter. I've lived in the same place for the last . . . hmmm I think it's 16 years and if I move it will be a drastic move and so I will be able to take very little with me, but in all likelihood I'll be staying here for the next few years at least.
I've wanted to declutter for a while and I make half-hearted attempts from time to time - I love the minimalism but just seem to accumulate 'stuff' and I always feel bad about getting rid of things that aren't worn out and as I tend to be quite careful it takes me a long time to do that.
So I figure I'm going to operate on a weekly basis and get rid of 7 things a week - working ahead so that if I fail to get rid of 7 things I've got the whole week to make it up and then also to find the 1 in and 1 out.
So here's my start . . .
Out - 2 coats, 3 pairs of trousers, 2 nearly new t-shirts, 1 cardigan, 1 skirt, 2 sports tops and a long jacket/cardigan thing - (all packed ready to go to Salvation Army or charity shop asap)
- 2 pairs of trousers and a t-shirt (bin!)
SUB-TOTAL - 15 out
In - I finished the new year with a shopping trip to the sales and bought 2 skirts, a cardigan and 3 pairs of tights (pantyhose? nylons?)
SUB-TOTAL - 6 in
Balance - 15 out, 6 in and 7 days (13 owed)
So I think I'm 2 up!
Now if I get time, I should go clear out some more because I know there's a fayre coming up to which I could donate some of the books that I need to get rid of and possibly some other bits and pieces.
