How goes the war on clutter this weekend?

Kids and I went through a smallish pile of secondhand books to determine which ones we want to keep -- about half of them are going to be leaving the house, just as soon as I've checked which of my friends are going to want them. And I've collected together two decades worth of recipe cards acquired from an assortment of locations, and these will be mailed off to a friend, just as soon as I gather all the other bits and bobs that I'm sending to them (which may or may not include some of the above mentioned books). Really want to have that done in the next week. I'm also thinking of paring down my pile of bookmarks, because it is getting truly ridiculous. I've a friend who used to have an endless need for bookmarks, so I'm going to check with them as to whether they want them. Otherwise, the advertising ones will go straight in the bin! (I appreciate the various online booksellers including bookmarks, but one per book is a few more than I actually need!)

I sold a big ticket item! $60 in my pocket. One child and I went through toys and pulled out several to get rid of. Some I can sell as a set! And I have another set of toys from the other child that I can sell too. All to make room for Christmas toys.

Also have a bag of clothes to donate/recycle.

Oh, well done on selling the big-ticket item! And that sounds like great progress with working with your children to declutter and make space for exciting new Christmas toys. :-)

That sounds like some impressive uncluttering of dead-tree items! Good luck with finding the rest of the bits and bobs to go with the recipe cards and getting that done this week.

My project for yesterday was to pull out all the unframed photos/prints I'd like to frame, together with the stash of empty frames and all the smaller framed pictures/photos I want to (eventually) display.

I quickly realized that I was going to need to buy some more supplies: more frames, plus backing card/mounts to create montages of small photos in larger frames. Oops! /o\ (But hey, I clearly decluttered so well previously that I really wanted to keep everything this time.)

Anyway, I made progress with cleaning frames and assigning some of the photos to them, and managed to frame 8 photos! Which are now on display on a shelf, so I can look at them.

I still need to carefully clean the framed pictures (I inherited quite a few from my mum and they have a nice patina of many years of tobacco smoking....) But they and the clean empty frames are stacked neatly and waiting for another convenient weekend.

It is! I have all these nice pictures (including some charming ones of my grandmother as a small child from more than 100 years ago) and now I can LOOK at them, instead of just knowing I have them somewhere!

I took a craaaaaazy amount of plastics to the recycling center, and started a new clothing donation pile. I caught up on all laundry over the weekend and properly sorted everything.

That sounds like a very impressive weekend! Well done on getting rid of all the plastics -- I'm sure that cleared a lot of space. :-)
