I spent Friday buying a new pair of glasses to act as a backup pair. I usually have one to stash away when i get a new pair, but the ones I am now wearing were bought because the frames of the other pair with a recent prescription broke and were not repairable. So I have had this pair for at least 2 years, they have wire frames, and I tend to push them up on my head when doing close reading, so the chances of damaging them are not small. I got a prescription from my opthamologist in March and finally got round to looking for new frames. That's been done, glasses ordered, and they should arrive in a week to ten days. So no clutter clearing there. I did look in my storage drawer for glasses, cases, and ID carriers and pulled out a couple of cases that seemed superfluous, and ugly.
Most of the week was spent on fiddling and reorganizing on the new computer. There is still a lot to do. I had a great many bits of fanfiction on the laptop that transferred to the new computer, and I copied all the semi-organized fanfic on my other laptop so I have most of it on this new big screen. There's a lot of duplication, organization that is of mixed logic, and too many folders called some version of Fanfic ( I count 7 on the desktop alone. There's more in the Documents. Of course, as I look through all this and try to make organizational decisions I also have to do a lot of reading; some stories I do not remember at all, and others pull me in to re-reading them. It all takes time.

Date: 2017-09-03 02:35 pm (UTC)This weekend, I actually got some stuff out of the house, by taking some donations to the charity shop I've been donating to for the past 3-4 years. Where the member of staff (new manageress?) was unexpectedly really quite rude and aggressive in checking whether they'd accept what I'd brought. And also couldn't name things correctly: she said they didn't need any more "kitchenware" and then it turned out what they don't need is tableware i.e. plates, mugs and other china. She was actually happy to take the kitchen implements and cookware that were part of what I'd brought.
So, despite the fact the place is quite convenient and takes a wide range of things, I'm going to be looking for somewhere else I can make my donations in future.
Anyway, this weekend I decluttered some things from the garage and gave a couple of other items a good clean, in preparation for adding them to the donation box.
