Just thought I'd share a good idea I had before Christmas that's definitely been helping me keep up with the decluttering.

I have mental health problems, so I don't always have the energy to tackle big tasks - some days I don't even have enough spoons left to decide which job to do first. I find it frustrating that I grind to a halt completely once I stop, though, so I took a piece of advice I've heard for mental health sufferers: spend some time when you *are* feeling OK on making life easier for when you're *not*.

Just before New Year I took a jar and filled it with slips of paper on which I've written things like "Give one item of clothing to charity" or "Get rid of one kitchen gadget/utensil/aged item of food that I'm not using". And there are a few surprise ones in there too like "Have a nice hot bath" or "Eat some chocolate"! Whenever I've got a day when I have the time to do a decluttering job but not enough mental whatsname to think up what, I can just dip into the jar and come up with something quick and simple that makes me feel I've achieved something. So far it's working great :)

I love that idea - making things easier for when one's not in a great space. I hae long bouts of semi-gloom when any kind of organizing seems impossible. but having a tiny task at random is also a great idea. makes it manageable!
