OUT: 47 children's books 

I had another go at the children's shelves tonight. I still let myself hold onto anything I remembered as one of the kids' favorites, or mine, or books that just are so good. (Of course, we have a lot of children's books that fall into the category of so good. It's not like I made a habit of buying crappy kids books.) Letting go of books seems to be a constant and gradual process.

Books are certainly something I struggle getting rid of. Brava for the latest lot to go.

Maybe I'll have to start selling some of mine. I might get less evil looks for attempting to give away childhood books I don't see me wanting to read to any future children that way.

I love books, but they take up room I'd really love to use for current books.

Yes! I've started to evaluate books for re-readability as I'm reading them - if they have no reread value, and no reference value, I won't keep them.

And as I have no plans to have kids immediately, I'm letting go of the childrens books that I was just keeping around for the theoretical offspring, and that I don't have cherished memories of or love.

Even once you have kids then you start keeping for theoretical granchildren, or nieces/nephews. I was talking to a friend, and remembering reading and rereading the same 10 picture books at my grandmother's. So why do I think I need an entire library for theoretical future kids?
