Weekly (ish) check in

It's a long weekend where I am, so Monday is the new Sunday. Which brings me to the topic of the post!

How goes the decluttering? Have you shifted anything out of the house? Found something to sort through? Had thoughts on things you can let go of?

Comments open to locals, lurkers, drive by sticky beaks, and anyone I've forgotten to mention.

I cleaned the toaster (which was long past due), put the ironing board away, progressed some tasks, and in the process somehow filled up a rubbish bin (an itty bitty indoor one) so I must have decluttered something, I just don't remember what! But I have more clear surfaces than I did, so a win either way

Oh! and I found a taker for the various sewing patterns i have lying around, I just have to remember to work out how to get in touch with the friend-of-the-offspring.

A friend was having a yard sale and I got rid of two sets of curtains I hated and a curtain rod I never took out of the box, a set of IKEA plates, and some college-era kitchen utensils that did not spark joy.

i GOT RID OF A BAG OF CLOTHES, AND A MISCELLANOUS BOX OF STUFF. I HAVE AN ONGOING PROGECT OF DVD I'M GOING THROUGH AND WEEDING OUT THE ONES I NO LONGER WANT. THE DUPLICATES ALREADY WENT OUT IN THE LAST BOX OF MISC.

A large box has finally been broken down, half to pieces for paint palettes and half for recycling. The entryway has an additional 2 cu ft of space.

As far as mental decluttering, The List of Tasks was becoming its own beast. I'm taking a step back to assess what is practical and leave a reminder that this is not a game of everything all at once.

A bag of books out, a bag of yarn to the local scrapstore, an unused handbag to my mother, and an unopened bottle of whiskey off to my brother, who will appreciate it much more than I will!

And several stacks of unused-for-decades plates waiting to be packed up securely to go to charity shops, along with two more handbags I'd bought trying to replace one that I've managed to get repaired.

Clean surfaces is certainly a good thing.

It's a mystery how toasters get as grimy as they do.
