I have done almost nothing in the book sort area, but I did manage to deal with 2 banker's boxes of stuff from the top of the bedroom bookcases. A lot went back, but there were 3 tin boxes of mixed buttons that I reduced to one, and a tea tin of mixed beads that I semi-sorted, bagged in sandwich bags, and have ready to go to the IDEA Store - a local place where teachers and crafters go to get bits and pieces donated by other people.

I also cleaned out my miscellaneous dresser drawer, which had lanyards for conventions, a lot of convention badges from MediaWest, WorldCon, WindyCon, and others. I untangled them and put the badges in a bag. I also found a lot of pin badges from fandom - mostly B7, but some Pros and Forever Knight, - and my union. These are all put together in a basket. I also found 8 glasses cases, 4 of which still had old glasses in them. I tried them on - 3 could work in an emergency; it appears my eyesight has not changed much in the last 15 years.

Those buttons and beads have been around for decades, so I am glad I finally have moved them on.

Good work on sorting out and reducing the quantity of some fiddly stuff and not just putting the boxes straight back/leaving the drawer alone. Now you know the bedroom is getting a "proper" declutter! And well done on finding a good place to donate the beads etc.

Hope working on the book area goes quickly when you get back to spending more time on it!

Thanks. It's that fiddly stuff that hangs around for years, moving from place to place. I am glad I finally got rid of some of it. Drawers are easier to work on than books - almost anything is easier than books. These easy successes are encouraging to get bake to the the books.

Oh, that's a wonderful concept for a store. I wish there was something like that aound here. I have so much random craft stuff, still, that could use a new home.

It is so good to have a place to take all the stuff I don't use. They don't take everything, but if it is in good shape, and semi-sorted, they take a lot. It has been in business for about 15 years, recently moved to a bigger location, and seems to be able to stay solvent. I suspect a lot would go in the trash if that store did not exist.
