How goes the uncluttering this weekend?

I've moved a set of items to the front hall, and got the okay to rehome all but one small item. I'd have done more, but my phone was flat, and by the time it was charged I didn't remember I needed to take photos. That can be tomorrow's task!

Hooray for getting more things into the rehoming spot -- good luck with the picture taking and eventual disposal!

I finally got some cardboard into the council recycling bin. It had been sitting around for ages because the incompetent private contractors who are supposed to empty the nearest recycling bins have failed to do so for months. (Resulting in lots of flytipping around the recycling bins, that will cost even more to clean up, because some of my neighbours are also antisocial idiots....)

Anyway... *takes deep breath* Last week I scouted out a set of recycling bins that are a little further away but still within walking distance and found those are either used less or being emptied more often, because there was plenty of space in them. So this weekend, I was able to get rid of the cardboard as well as some of the usual recycling. (And had a nice brisk longish walk to increase my exercise count for the week, so win-win all round!)

Also got rid of some shredded paper, while the two bags of trash that were already in the wheelie bin were taken away. I also dealt with some small tasks that resulted in clearing some space on a surface. (Not exactly clutter, just Things Undone.)

I spent two lots of about 45 minutes tackling paper clutter: first opening and sorting a backlog of post, and then moving on to the giant pile of Paper To Be Filed which has been rather randomly added to and filed-from over the last few years, and more things have been added than filed, all the time.

I roughly halved the size of the Paper stack, and made a point of stopping when getting bored. I'd like to keep up the momentum this week: I think two or three more sessions should clear it and then I "only" have to file as stuff comes in to keep on top of it.

Well done!

I managed to find and pack to go another 10 books - 4 by finishing reading them, 2 by establishing I wasn't going to ever finish reading them and the others by deciding I didn't even want to try reading them. One of them has already gone to a new home.

Back to the grindstone and figuring out some more that can go.

Yay! Book decluttering and especially rehoming is so satisfying

I cleaned under an ottoman and found a lot of cat toys, which lead to a sorting and throwing out of a lot of things they don't like/never played with. Some things got rehomed to other cat families, but some had to be binned. And some were rediscovered as new faves. One cat has learned how to squeeze a squeaky toy just right, yay.

Well read.

We decided to recycle a bunch of magazines yesterday. We might also cancel our Sunday (only day we have delivered) newspaper, as well.
