I found a GREAT deal on quality yarn at a second hand store--as in, well over $100 worth of good yarn for a total of $10.50. So I bought it, picked out the 10 skeins I wanted, and donated the remaining 5 skeins (and two languishing items) later that day.
Spouse did the shredding and put the shavings in recycling.
I'm on a mission to use up toiletries - so the ones that are half used, I'm concentrating on using them or deciding to get rid of them if I don't like them or they don't do as advertised (eg. with certain hair 'taming' products). So far I've finished a bottle of perfume, two bottles of body lotion and got rid of a third and one bottle of 'hair smoothing' cream (either had no effect or if I used more my hair went greasy - urgh) For special occasions, I can still use the extra special products or if I'm just in the mood to languish and relax, but really, I've accumulated more than I need and it's taking up way too much space now so I'm going to concentrate on reducing by using up. Hopefully I'll get it all back under control so it only takes up the one shelf (or less).
Three more books have gone (two passed on as I don't want to read them, one was finished and added to the pile to go) and a pair of shoes that someone else gave me because they didn't like them but they never really fitted me so I've given up trying to wear them. I've also put out a cardigan that always gets ridiculously staticky when I wear it - I end up getting continual shocks as I move around the office and as for opening the garage door.... Sparks fly! Wow! I've done more than I thought.
No uncluttering done in a long time! I might get a little done tomorrow but have important paperwork to do that might need all the time I have available. We will see.
We had a clearout of one of the kitchen cupboards, getting rid of expired items, packages that have been open and we don't know how long for. We also wrote a 'master grocery' list of things we'd like to always have on hand. I also bought one of those magnetic meal plan/shopping list pads to put on the fridge to try to help minimise waste in the future
I have removed several items that have been nibbled by my recent small furry houseguests. Unfortunately, that included assorted chocolate and a bag of porridge oats.
I have a goal to sort out the kitchen cupboards, removing any items that may be older than strictly useful, and uncluttering any crockery and plastic containers that are no longer required.
