Mid-week uncluttering
Dec. 12th, 2018 09:50 pmWhat have you found to reuse, repurpose, or rehome today?
I've found a project that will use up the yarn I bought online that turned out to be thicker than I expected, and so I haven't used for the planned project I bought it for (I'm using up some gift yarn that I had forgotten about instead, so win there as well). I'm making crochet 'Yip Yips' as gifts for a couple of friends. (free pattern here if anyone wants to know more). I'm about half way through the first one, and anticipate I'll get about five out of the yarn I have.

Date: 2018-12-13 12:37 am (UTC)On a personal uncluttering note - I have been using up glass painting supplies by making Christmas gifts and by throwing away paints that have dried up too much to get out of tubes or jars. Some items may need to be ultimately replaced, but when I opened the box too much of it was unusable - at least for the time being what there is is useful - plus I've used up a number of items bought to be decorated which also means more space.
I had tried to redeem some fimo by following an online method, but it seems impractical to get the process to work - all of the fimo bought is hard and it isn't just a matter of working it a little to make it malleable - my hands are exhausted before I've got a workable piece of a single colour (and some of the colours it doesn't seem possible to get them workable at all) - as soon as I put it down to work on another colour it reverts to unusable. I tried a method of adding water, I managed to get one colour workable in about 30 minutes, but the second colour it didn't work for - it seems a little untenable to aim to improve about 10-12 colours - in theory that's about 6 hours work and that's just to try and make them workable, not to actually make anything from them - and with no guarantee of success.
