Last counting post was the 8th and I had ousted 60 more things than I needed to for 1 a day (which is a good start). So another week down and how do I stand now?

Out went ...

5 unopened boxes of chocolates (Christmas gifts) (donated for staff consumption at work)
1 soft toy penguin (charity shop)
9 CDS (charity shop)
1 old Christmas stocking (bin)
1 hat (put in bag to go to SA)
1 pr fluorescent pink gloves! (SA)
1 pr trousers (bin)
1 vest (bin)
1 strange pair of socks (bin)

1 multipack of out of date chips(bin)
1 out of date half eaten box of crackers (bin)

So that's 21 out (I'm only counting food where it's not in normal circulation of in and out and being eaten - so the chips and crackers don't actually count, but the gifted boxes of chocolates do)

In ...

So I haven't been shopping for anything this week but...

4 crochet magazines (these are on a standing order and arrive once a month and build up into a pack)
1 pack of fitness dvds & associated equipment (ordered prior to the new year but only just arriving)
1 soft toy (freebie sent through post – not ordered *sigh* - supposedly this is a reward for a membership!)

so that's 6 in. I must resist the urge to go buy anything else.

This week's total is 15 more out than in, which added to the running total and taking away the next 7 days, leaves me with . . . (busy counting on fingers) . . . 68 extra items out so far this year.

Project for the week ahead . . . trying to find time to open the door on the cupboard under the stairs ('cause you can be sure there's junk lurking in there with the spiders!)

That all sounds good. I bring old chips and crackers and burned toast and things like that (not the ones made with onion, garlic, or chocolate, because those harm animals) and put them out for the birds and feral cats at work--

Yup, I can understand that--we have some birds who turn up every single day, and some feral cats who we all know live there, and so it's not a difficulty in the rat etc. regard: I figure that everyone, rats, bugs, everyone, has the right to try to survive, and I think it helps the ecosystem there to be less freaked out since then the cats don't actually go after the birds etc. I keep meaning to get a serious compost situation going too, but can't in an apartment right now.
