What clutter has caught your attention today?

I've been sorting books. So far, I've managed to find two duplicates in the $15 boxes I bought at the recent booksale, so those will be passed on to friends who like them. And another piece of clothing has joined the box in the front hall. I desperately want to find the time to sort through a few piles of Stuff that I suspect will be more than half clutter, but urgent things keep cropping up. Today, we had to trim the tree that one of the chickens has been using to escape over the 8 foot fence!

None today, but I gave three framed pictures (two large, one medium sized)

and three pendants

away to a charity fundraising sale on Friday...

I organised for the charity to collect from my house, which was great!

This was a once-off from the Cat Haven, who are collecting stuff for their annual garage sale.

They don't usually collect items from people, but made an exception for me when I told them I couldn't donate the items otherwise.

Every little helps :)

None for me today but three baking dishes and pans from the cupboard with all the baking stuff are put aside for the charity shop and I plan to more or less empty the cupboard this week. I hardly ever bake or oven cook anymore and I use the slow cooker or my expensive but incredibly versatile lidded saute pan for making curries, stir fry, risotto and much more.

Hooray for small wins! And I hope the sneaky-clever chicken is now safely contained.

I received another doorstep charity collection bag on Friday, so I have filled that with stuff that was already sorted out and hope it will disappear when I put it out tomorrow.

I have visions of a sneaky ninja-like chicken scaling the heights of the tree to some sneaky spy film type music (or maybe the Mission Impossible theme). I've put a bunch of things from the living room into a bucket and taken them downstairs - if I don't miss them in a couple of weeks time I shall dispose of them appropriately (partially used candles, some kids toys that I think are outgrown, and a sort of ... I don't even know what to call it - glass bowl in a metal frame that came with pot pourri and just lurks getting dusty? Some more books and DVDS have been boxed to go.

I took care of the mending pile. One thing mended well, the other mended well enough for camping. Done!

I'm measuring the success of my yard sale not in the money I made, but in how much stuff I got rid of. Prior to Saturday, there were at least four areas of our basement that had my late mom's stuff stored there. Now, there is one! I just kept consolidating boxes as the sale went on, plus I filled empty bread boxes, picnic baskets, etc. with more stuff. And yes, I made enough money to take to the flea market this weekend, which is a nice bonus. I labeled everything before I put it away, so I can easily take stuff out that I want to donate, but that will have to wait until after we donate the remainder of the holiday decorations.

I'm doing the same when I sell things. Yes, the money is nice, but I'm trying to think of it as "money I recouped" and "look at all this space!" rather than "money I made." Because part of decluttering is to stop buying things! (I say... as I buy things to sell and flip..)

Right. I'm thinking more of my daughter needing her own space now that she's three. I don't need to hold onto my late mom's stuff and I'm sure she would be happy to know that me selling and donating her collections is making space for her granddaughter to have her own room- and the money I make is used to by my daughter things she needs and an occasional toy too.

The flea market I'm going to had a vendor last year who had tons of vintage Barbie dolls for dirt cheap prices, so I'm hoping he's back so I can buy some to flip. ;-)
