How goes your decluttering?

I spent a lot of the day trying to get books sorted. One duplicate is in the box to go, and I have about three others to sort out which copy I'm keeping.

And I cleaned out the fridge. I got rid of a set of tasty brines/vinegars that I've been planning on using for risotto/polenta, because I'm just not cooking that kind of thing any more. And I got rid of a daikon, which I bought with the intention of making radish cake, but I can't find my recipe. I'm counting that one to 'abandoned dream' in my bingo card, because I really really want to make radish cake (less important now that I've found a grocer that carries it in the freezer section).

We've replaced some pieces of furniture, so I've got the old ones up for sale. if they aren't sold in a week, they'll go to my friend's garage sale--I have warned her there is a lot coming!

Recycled some things we'll never use and the kids have forgotten about.

I'll try to return a thing to the store tonight. No receipt, so we'll see how that goes!

I saw in the other post that you sold a table, so I hope that's one of the pieces you listed, and that the others sell as well. Good work on recycling things that no one will ever use. And I hope you managed to successfully return the thing to the store.

I cleaned out my fridge yesterday and I'm still rinsing the containers today. The fridge looks empty now, so there will be room for the salads we want to make next week for U.S. Independence Day.

I also got rid of a few more books yesterday and I have a small pile to look through today. I should be able to get rid of at least 100 books this year- my goal was only 50. I'm at 64 of my own books gone, plus I deleted a few ebooks, and I got rid of a few of my daughter's books too, so I'm at 84 books total now.

And finally, I'm hoping to use up some baby yarn by making dresses for my daughter's baby doll. My little girl's birthday is next month, so I'd like to make her thrift store doll some clothes.

Good work on braving the depths of the fridge and cleaning it out. Sounds like you're making some great progress on the books, too. And I'm sure your daughter will be thrilled if you can use up that baby yarn by making clothes for her doll.

I went through 2 bags of used books that my mom had passed along to me - for some reason she can't find a place to get rid of books in her town. I gave all but one book to the local library book sale. The one remaining book is one I remember from my childhood, and I'm going to reread it, and then recycle (it's water damaged and not appropriate for donation.)

Great that you were able to find a home for your mom's books, and I hope you enjoy re-reading the book from your childhood!

I'm sure it was tough to let the daikon (and the "dream") go, so well done for doing it! Also for recognising that the brines and vinegars had passed their time.

And I think we all struggle with books, don't we?
