What is your one thing to go today? Did you have one yesterday as well?
I'm relying on Youngest for decluttering at the moment -- they've been clearing out various boxes I've had stored, and working out what to keep. I've then been sorting through to work out what how to deal with things. Many many small toys! Everything is being stacked on the shelf in the front hall, and I'll care about it later :)
Oh, and I read 1/3 of a book, noped out, and have added that to the pile!

Date: 2018-04-22 04:35 pm (UTC)Today's service—predictably enough, because Earth Day—was environmentally themed. Led by a Pennsylvania rabbi, who had us read quotes from Jewish writings of varying date and location. Theme: do not destroy. (Other theme: trees.) I am feeling encouraged to declutter. And apparently anything going to the spring auction has to be in a particular person's possession before he goes out of state on Wednesday, so I'd better hustle on those, hadn't I? XD
(I have to leave in ten minutes for a several-hour obligation and then I have two scheduled discussions after that. When am I supposed to do this???)

Date: 2018-04-22 06:57 pm (UTC)My focus has mostly been on removing weeds from the garden, but I did deal with some admin stuff and put some of the paperwork related to that on the to-be-shredded pile. I also bought a new purse and threw the old one in the trash immediately I'd emptied out the contents. Bonus: I didn't put everything that was in the old purse into the new one, partly because it wouldn't all fit easily and partly because I realized I really don't need to carry round things like loyalty cards that I use maybe once a year....

Re loyalty cards -- I have found an app I can store them in and scan from! I only have one in there, but it was good, because I've used it, and I wouldn't have had the card anyway.

Date: 2018-04-22 07:27 pm (UTC)Today I've been cleaning out the fridge and the pantry of things that, if Spouse were here, would spark "But I just bought that!" despite the Best By date long past. My goal for the week, as Spouse is gone, is to work through the things that are nearing their Best By dates, by either making them and eating them, or throwing them out. I'd like to be able to see what's in the pantry from now on, rather than have to dig and find we have several boxes of one thing, because we couldn't find one box a while ago and bought more.

Date: 2018-04-23 10:16 pm (UTC)With the pantry, I've found it helps to be extremely disciplined when putting groceries away or back: to always put the new boxes/packets/cans with the ones bought earlier -- and, ideally, behind them. That makes it easier to see how many you have left and to grab the one that's nearest to its Best By date to use next.
So good luck with cleaning out/using up the nearly expired stuff and organising what's left so it's easier going forward!
