Sounds like you'll successfully get rid of the drawers to one friend or the other -- well done!
I had a small success in that I took another load to the book donation bank yesterday.
I'm also trying an experiment in my kitchen, having finally got sufficiently fed up with the inconvenience of having too many things stuffed into the cupboard that holds my tableware and non-metal cookware.
So I removed everything I know for sure I don't use fairly regularly. I found a couple of items to get rid of immediately, but most of it is being stored in a box, because it definitely does get used occasionally. (A lot of it gets used when my sister hosts the biannual big family get-together and we need every plate we can lay our hands on.) In a few months time, I'll go through it and see what else I'm ready to get rid of.
The great thing about having decluttered so much else in the rest of my house is that I now have space to store it somewhere other than the kitchen. In the kitchen, it's clutter, because it's getting in my way; stored somewhere else in the house (assuming I don't put it somewhere I'll repeatedly trip over it!), it's a "seasonal" item on a par with Christmas decorations and garden furniture. :-)
