How is your uncluttering going this week?

I have been focusing on virtual uncluttering -- email and tasks lists! I cleared nearly half of one task list (there are many, because I run my life in Trello), so I am feeling quite virtuous. This is ahead of a meeting with my work supervisor tomorrow, as there are many achievements to report on, and the to do list allowed me to reflect on that.

Beyond that, my ever present fight with paper clutter is ongoing. I took a folder full to sit at the rink yesterday, and worked my way through half of it, so that is all gone. But the folder still looks full, and the table is still covered, so it doesn't feel like much of an achievement.

I put a thing in the donation pile and ate the last cookie. Oh! And I'm sending a thing to a friend tonight.

I've actually been doing pretty well this week! There's been furniture moving around the house, so while I haven't got *rid* of a lot - some, but not a lot - many things have been Agressively Tidied, so things look a lot nicer. Which should help me keep on going, since things look less overwhelming now. :3

If it helps any, I think folders have some sort of magic power where they look full once you get about a dozen things in them, so even if they're objectively super tidy and minimalised they take up the same amount of subjective-space as a full one. Because brains are weird like that. But it doesn't mean you haven't done a lot of work, just that you're probably not going to notice it until later. Fucking brains, man, they suuuuck.

Visible progress so you feel less overwhelmed is always good. :-) And sometimes (finally) getting furniture in the right places can make a vast difference. Good luck with your next steps!

I pulled everything out of the spare room, so I could hoover properly, and found another half a rubbish bag of stuff to go -- whoops! I then put everything back, along with a couple of other items that need to live in there, but it's not arranged neatly yet, because I want to go through some of the containers to see what else can go.

Also, I tried again with putting out a doorstep charity collection bag and this one has disappeared! I assume the charity people took it, as I didn't actually see it picked up, but I'm not sure I really care who has it as long as it's out of my house!

Paper clutter is so difficult. I have a ton of shredding to do again, and have quickly filled a recycling bag...

I found a little container I was putting receipts in and... why was I keeping receipts in it? It was just more clutter. Either receipts can be recycled, put on the fridge for a week or so until I know I don't need them (then recycled), or filed if it's something I'll want to retain.

So that's... something that's no longer clutter, yay!

Oh dear, I recognise that whole situation of thinking I'm being Very Organised by having a Proper Place to keep Important Stuff... that I don't actually need to keep! Sometimes we can be our own worst enemies. ;-) Well done for identifying it as clutter and doing away with it.

Oh yeah. And I can see the very sincere attempt I was making, but I'm glad I realized it wasn't making anything better.

Paper is tough, isn't it? I don't have any good way to measure "this dozen pieces of paper is less than the two dozen previously," aside from actually counting it out, so progress is hard to see. Good for you for doing it anyway! You'll look at that table some day and see a difference. :)

Let's see: I went through the china cabinet and packed an entire box of stuff for family and donation. This isn't really a reduction, as it only made room for the kitchen stuff MIL gave me last year that was boxed, but it's a win anyway because now I can see and access the stuff I actually like and want to use. In the process, I discovered we have FOUR TEAPOTS. /facepalm All of which I like.

Star also moved the entire craft closet into a heap on the floor. @___@ We have a lot of craft stuff. This is going to be quite the adventure to sort.

I cleared off my (old, terrible, rickety, particle board) computer desk yesterday and it is going out the door today. Star is clearing their (same as above) desk today and it is also going out the door.

We went to the antique store over the weekend and both of us liked a wooden desk they had there. Turns out there was just enough wiggle room in the budget to buy it. \o/ Now that we have one room almost completely empty, the new desk and a power supply go in there, and we're discussing repainting it next month, as neither of us are fond of its seafoam-green walls. I am excite.

Sounds like you've made lots of good progress. I hope you enjoy using the kitchen stuff and, especially, the lovely new desk, and that the craft stuff doesn't take too long to sort!
