How has your uncluttering year started?

I went back to work yesterday, after a week off, so did a last push to try and get the sewing/music room and the games/library room sorted -- including moving books from shelves in other rooms (oops). I now have an even longer list of sewing repairs, six fewer things in the sewing basket (all in the 'to a good home' pile), and more books on the floor than I wanted to (but all the DVDs are sorted -- and we found a couple more to rehome). We also found a doll's bed (and doll) that hadn't been taken off the shelf in years, a small bookshelf that was emptied on to one of the newly empty shelves, and a side table that has been moved around the house multiple times since Youngest decided they didn't want it any more. Oh, and in one of the baskets I found a stash of 'wanna make' patterns, some of which are no longer of interest, so they have gone as well, so my potential projects list has been stripped done a bit as well!

The shelf has been repurposed in the front hall to hold items that we think friends might want, with an agreement that if we can't fit anything on it, then we have to fill a box to take to the op-shop. But everything else is slated to leave the house, which I am very thankful for.

I'm still trundling along with my 'flat shelf or drawer or box or whatever every day', working my way along my bedroom wall and into the closet. I have a couple items to see about selling, one that I need to message a friend to see if she wants, and I was able to repurpose a basket that was in the pile to donate to hold bagged wigs since those didn't really have a spot.

A coworker was waxing nostalgic about some old shows last month-- since she still has a VCR and I have the shows on DVD now, I gave her all my old VHS tapes of the shows and that box is out of the hallway.

I haven't had much to toss in the trash or recycling, but things are arranged nicer or with like items.

I need to get donations bagged up and out since they've filled their usual spot in the hall and are creeping into the traffic paths.

Not a bad start to the year! I did go through the hall closet to find some hats, gloves, etc, to give away and to put in storage (styles/sizes the children will grow into). Gave that bag away yesterday.

Gave a thing away. Waiting for a friend to pick up some things--this one Spouse volunteered to give away! "Can we get rid of this?" YES.

I have another thing on fb as a give away, but no bites, because I'd rather sell it than give it away. We'll see when I cave and give it away!

I have a box of things to go to the secondhand store, whenever I can make it there!

I got a copy of "Spark Joy" as a gift, and it's chiming pretty hard with some of the stuff I need to do, so that's nice. I tried reading the first book by the same author and bounced off, so it's good to have a better example of her work, too. (Does this mean I am going to KonMari all the things? Probably not.)

Sent out an entire bookshelf and took the first steps into reading on the tablet. Surprisingly pleasant, that; turns out I don't dislike reading on screens, I dislike e-readers. Well and good; that's a device I don't need anyway.

Failed utterly at selling some specialized goods. Okay, next up is donation, because I am sure as heck not holding on to them.

Going through craft supplies, killing projects and remembering what-all I wanted to do, is /hard./ Like, feeling I let myself down hard. I need to check in with that, and then I need to finish the work.

Well done on your achievements, good luck with the in progress and there is no letting down, just slow tackling step by step and if it's something that's not giving pleasure then reconsider :D

Yesterday I went through two small drawers of craft stuff and got rid of some expired paints and glue and other useless bits. It's a start.

Happy to see other people making progress too. \0/

I've given away three jigsaws, boxed several books for donation and finished another film and put that into the donation pile too.

I've been reassessing Christmas decorations as I've begun tidying them away and have already thrown out some that are too tired to continue and a couple more to go into the donation pile.

I'm now tackling another jigsaw and two books - all of which will be donated once finished.

We've filled our recycling bin with old boxes from the loft that we don't need any more, and started the year by sending some stuff off to lovely Freecyclers. So far this year we've given a suitcase, two curtain rods, a set of powerline network extenders and a wifi booster with cables, and three skeins of reclaimed silk yarn that I was never going to use.

Once the recycling bin's been emptied, I suspect that we'll fill it again!
