How has your uncluttering gone this weekend? Are you tidying up after the Solstice, still prepping for Christmas, celebrating some other holiday, or avoiding the seasonal silliness entirely?

I woke up with energy and minimal pain today, so I wombled out into the garden. I moved a dilapidated cane trunk to the staging area for our bulk rubbish collection (nearly 6 months away), and half filled it with small items that partner had pulled out of their section of the cupboard yesterday (mostly destroyed clothing, which can't go in our recycling or our rubbish bins, and isn't the right kind of fabric to make rags). Then I went back to the patio, and started sorting the cardboard and boxes that have been piling up. Several were small enough to break up and put in the recycling bin, several others have been put next to it to break down as we have space in the bin, and the others will be stacked up for other purposes.

I also started cleaning some of the other items that have been mouldering in the corner of the patio. I *think* that I might be able to salvage a backpack with some careful sewing, and I think the swing lounge might also come good if we do some repairs, so they will go from dusty, unsightly clutter to useful! I'm probably going to have to sew covers for the cushions, because they are in poor nick, but I hope to be able to get the fabric for that soon-ish. Other items have been moved into a teetering mound, so while I haven't dealt with them, at least I've got more space on the patio! The plan is to go out there and read each day I'm on holidays, so I hope to be motivated to do more.

feh.

well, the two gifters' worth of familial Giftmas presents to seven people apiece are about to depart, does that count?

(probably not, because at least seven gifters' worth of familial Giftmas presents to two people apiece are about to enter...)

I meant to have a bunch of books go on the shelves yesterday so the boxes they're in could depart for Dad's, he wants them for purposes unspecified, but I had 0 energy all day

Sounds like a great deal of achievement in what got done and in the plans for next steps. So, Well Done!

So I've been actively tidying, rather than actively decluttering - being as I was expecting guests tonight and I have to say things looked pretty good when the guests arrived and I'd even cleared enough clear space to be able to vacuum the larger part of all rooms (not just the rooms they'd be in).

I've used up some gift bags in packing presents, reducing my stash significantly, and have finished with another book which is in the to go box and am about halfway through which will also depart once finished. There were some random bits and pieces but nothing significant that left as I was tidying (bits of packaging and things like that).

I also rescued from one of the boxes that were heading for either the recycling centre or the charity shop but didn't fit in my friend's car the other day (thank goodness) a chopping board which I forgot that I do use... just not as a chopping board - I use it under the breadmaker to ensure the heat doesn't effect the worktop. A great relief to realise that I hadn't actually got rid of it! Over zealous decluttering of the kitchen. Unbelievably I found a couple more things in there that were out of date today - amazing given how much I'd got rid of a few weeks ago - how these missed going then I do not know!
