How's your decluttering going?

I've added 2 more shirts to the donation pile, and a set of tights to the handmedowns. I'm coming around to donating a sentimental jacket, but I'm not there yet. Last night I found 2 hats and some mittens to be donated later today. I have to discuss other cold weather gear with Spouse before sending them off and now I want to go through the hall closet again! We have so many winter hats for a family of four.

I found out I can use a thing I thought I was keeping just for sentimental reasons. \o/

We got rid of a game console and a pile of games via selling them back to the local store. They gave us a wack of store credit, which is great for buying other people presents.

I have a box of lightly used but interesting goods that are going to be a present for a friend who likes that sort of thing.

... and a chest of Stuff that I probably won't be able to resell or regift, which either gets landfill'd or kept. *sigh* I knew this day was coming, but it's annoying that it's here.

Yes! "Put back into use" is a really satisfying end to a declutter decision.

Hm, maybe? There's a specialized forum I could try. It's worth a shot.

I had brought home some stuff from work to tinker with (otherwise it was going in the garbage) and after three months of it sitting around, I realized I was never going to tinker with it and it could go back to work to be junked.

Also cleaned out the plastic shoebox that I used to keep my 'essentials' in when I had a vendor table at comic book shows. I haven't had a table in years, so now the stuff in the box has mostly been sorted out and put away, aside from a couple little things I need to make a decision on.

A lot of surface/space is being used in pre-xmas prep. I'd wanted to really go through all my xmas decorations and sort out more to donate, but that is not happening quite yet.

My youngest sister was in town and we tackled mom's house.

2 large boxes of clothes for younger family members to go through. Anything left will be donated.
Filled the back of an SUV with stuff to Goodwill. (Toys, clothes, craft supplies, fabric, etc.)
Filled the big garbage can and a small garbage can of trash.
Filled 2 recycle bins to overflowing.

I took home 1 small bin of Lego and 1 paper box of misc stuff that was half empty. One of my treasures of the day was a painting mom did in collage she didn't want any more.

When I was thinking about it last month, I wasn't sure anyone would want donated xmas stuff, but then when I went to one of the big-deal rummage sales a couple weekends ago, people were fighting in the aisles for xmas stuff, so... will donate there once I've got everything ready.

(half the time, figuring out the best recipient of stuff is harder than picking out the stuff to go...)

I'm going to be "fostering" (I really mean adopting) a cat my friends and I rescued from a terrible situation, but first he has to get neutered on Sunday. My friends do trap, neuter, release, so they are taking him to the vet and we won't have to pay for it. The kitty has a disability and he's very scared, so we want to put him in a crate at first to acclimate him to our house, so I have to clear a space and buy a crate (I saw one on Craigslist for $20, so I hope to get that one). I have several boxes of papers and junk in my library room, which is where the kitty will be living for a little while. So far, I've gone through one box and recycled a bunch of papers. I'll do another box later today and I'll move the beanbag chairs to the room my daughter isn't using yet.

Oh, I forgot to mention, I also got rid of a seven book series this week and will be posting that on BookMooch later today. I already have one person interested in three of the books, so I won't have to find room for them in the swap inventory box.
