I'm trying to enter each days receipts into the program I'm using to track expenditure, and then dumping them in a shoe box rather than leaving them all over the table. (I alternate two shoe boxes, emptying one when both are full, on the assumption that most receipts aren't ever going to be needed again, and certainly not after ~6 months)

I'm hoping to use it as the basis of a family budget in the new year, so that we have some idea of what we are spending (and whether I'm spending within or outside my 'allowance' which is kind of a tricky idea, because there isn't a hard and fast rule about what that has to be).
