Weekend uncluttering

How did everyone's uncluttering go this weekend?

Sadly, I think I have nothing to report. Yesterday I spent working on getting caught up on a couple of things; today I slothed, then partner and I walked to the local shops where we had a coffee, and then I rested for the remainder of the afternoon.

... Oh, I cleaned the rubbish out of the car! The car is a little tidier, because there wasn't as much as there sometimes is. It might be that I've finally trained either myself or my kids to take the rubbish in when it gets created. ... nah, probably just because it is school holidays, and I'm not feeding teenagers whilst in transit between school, home, and extracurriculars.

Slow, but some things did go to the give away box. The box has not left the house yet.

Late last week, I did give away a sewing machine that I'll never use and I felt so much lighter after that. And I sent a thing to a friend. A smallish thing, but still not in my house.

Well done on things making it to the give away box even if it's not gone yet. Giving away the sewing machine and the thing to a friend are also good progress.

The bag of used bath stuff that youngest sister is claiming almost made it out of the apartment last night!

...horseshoes and hand grenades, but it is leaving. Soon.

They and their destination are identified - that's a big step. A tiny one in the near future and it will be done! So well done and good luck.

Good work on the car clean-out! I didn't do any actual uncluttering, but I did some of the jobs that need to be done before the uncluttering (i.e. getting the house back to normal after departure of builders).

I also got someone to come and unclutter my garden, which possibly sort of counts? Essentially, she doesn’t have a garden but wants to do gardening, so I’m lending her my garden. No money is changing hands, but she’s going to keep the place in decent order, use it to grow whatever she wants, and keep whatever she grows. It already looks so much nicer with all the bindweed removed...

Bindweed is the bane of my garden's existence. I am a somewhat unenthusiastic gardener and it really isn't helped by bindweed and other non-welcome plants. Why is it when I had a lawn space, the grass wouldn't grow and was over taken by moss, but now I have pots and gravel the grass grows abundantly anywhere it shouldn't!!

Well done on getting the house ready to be decluttered. It's an important step in the process.

Uncluttering the garden absolutely counts! I like the idea of lending the garden. I'd be kind of happy to go half shares in a garden - someone to do the thinking and the planning, and then me just to follow along and make sure I do the things that are required, like daily watering -- and then half shares in the produce.

Like you I did a bunch of resting and relaxing - time to gather energy for the next stage of decluttering I think!

Tonight I put out the recycling - 3 crates and a bin (1 each for glass, plastic, cardboard/paper and cans). I added another phone book to the pile that's being donated (where have I been hoarding them all for the last few years!). I've also added some more out of date medication to the bag to go to a pharmacy and some more DVDs to one or other of the bags to go - 7 DVDs intended for 3 different destinations. More will, in theory, follow.

Oh, yeah, I also got rid of the old iron which has been waiting to go to the recycling centre - a friend was planning on going there with some stuff from their home so I asked if they'd mind taking it at the same time. :D

Resting and relaxing does appear to be an important part of the decluttering process!

Good job with getting all the recyclables out of the house! I've just discovered that there is a recycling service that takes plastic bags, so I've started putting those into a single location. Still have to teach the rest of the household about it!
