How did everyone go with uncluttering over the weekend?

For me, yesterday was a bit on the busy side, so no uncluttering happened. Today though, I went into the music cum sewing cum storage room, which has been slowly accreting many many things on horizontal surfaces. To start with, I emptied two small storage boxes, both of which contained small repair jobs (two bras, one pair of slippers; all fixed). Then I sorted paperwork, mostly putting things in appropriate files, and then binning those that don't need filing. And I went through the stash of plastic containers and thinned them down to the few we use.

Sadly, I'm not sure I can see the difference - will have to make more progress next Sunday.

(also, autocorrect is getting on my nerves - today, it keeps assuming I want 'unflattering' instead of 'uncluttering'. *sigh*)

Feh. :( But I will work on it! ...after I deal with the kitchen nonsense. (My chicken leaked. All over the water filter pitcher. /o\ )

(Autocorrect at work keeps changing "nonstock" to "nonstick". Can someone get on fixing that already? Because "nonstock" is a word in frequent use around that office!)

Another several inches of old papers have been shredded this week.

I also went through and found all the lever-arch files that didn't quite close properly (because I'd dropped the file on the floor at some point....) and moved the contents into "spare" ones that do work properly, and threw the defective ones away, along with some other bits and bobs of obsolete stationery and some garden-related odds and ends that needed to go.

Fairly pleased with progress given I was busy with other things this week as well.

The paper stack is really less impressive than it sounds. :-)

I'm self-employed and didn't throw away anything related to my work for 20+ years. (Oops!) I'm now slowly working my way through getting rid of stuff over a certain age. This year, that involves two boxes of papers relating to client projects that I worked on between, I think, 2002 and 2010. (Because, really, no one is ever going to ask me to check a detail in my original notes for a marketing brochure I wrote 10 years ago....)

Since there may be slightly sensitive information in there -- like contact details that could still be valid -- on maybe every 3rd page, it's far simpler and less time-consuming just to shred everything than look at every page and decide whether it needs to be shredded or not. Hence several inches of shredding each week for the past two or three weeks!

I'm hoping to move somewhere better within the next year, so I'm back to decluttering (less things to move, win!). I made pretty substantial headway in tackling the clutter monster before my last move about ten months ago, but I live with two little humans who like their stuff.

I went through my eldest's clothes and got rid of everything that didn't fit which was about half the clothes she had. I did my youngest's clothes a couple of weeks ago. Next on the list is my own wardrobe.

That sounds like really great progress on your children's clothes! I hope tackling your own wardrobe goes as well.
