I have cleaned the kitchen. This will be a big post.

I totally cleaned out the kitchen, which is good! Scrubbed out all the cupboards and cleaned the oven and everything! But then I went to ikea, and bought New Things, which is bad... However, I am still quite a lot in credit. Witness!

1 pair of knickers
2 x mats to put under the dog bowls
1 x doormat
5 x new recycling bins

1 x new broom (to sweep clean!)

1 x veg steamer

1 x bat puppet for my little girl
1 x new Lack coffee table - which cost five pounds! YAY Ikea!

Nothing felt so good as throwing that knackered old coffee table into the timber skip at the tip, and watching it pinwheel down to the bottom, shedding its three remaining legs on the way. It made a very satisfying crashing noise. Today I plan to finish scrubbing the hob and surfaces, and then sort out some clothes for the charity shop. Which will put me even more in credit! YAY!

Wow, that sounds very productive. I'm looking forward to having some of those days after the end of January.

I'm just glad I can't get to Ikea from where I am, at least not in a way which would mean I can buy anything significant. It's a very dangerous place.

I am off work recovering from an operation at the moment; once I go back to work I expect my cleaning energy to go down lots, so I am making the most of this while I can.

Ikea I go to because it is cheap; I don't actually like it. I hate they way they force you round the windy path through the store like cattle, and I hate the fact that the path is so windy I lose my sense of direction. But I braved it for a new coffee table (Lack) and some crockery (Fargrinken or something. They were black anyway. Not that I'm a goth. No sir, not I).

I'm also fond of Ikea due to cheapness. I'm not yet disenchanted with the shops themselves as I've only been twice. The whole windy path thing is a marketing thing to entice you into buying more stuff as far as I know. When I went with my ex-roomies we bought an abundance of black things - crockery and a rug, plus the two bits of art we bought had quite a bit of black, I'm relatively fond of black. The names amuse me too, mostly because I'm never sure how to pronounce them.

The one that amused me the most yesterday was Skanka, since a skanker in Brit slang is one who rips you off, and it was rather expensive for Ikea tat.

He lived somewhere called Mole Street for a while, and was a bit put out when it was pointed out that it said "MoleSt" at the end of his street.
