3 weeks of movement!

Over the last 3 weeks I
* culled the glasses cupboard, which was getting dangerously full, with help from my child. We kept only the glasses in really good condition and now there's room for them all without stacking or risking things falling out.
* helped my child cull toys for unwanted / broken items, apparently spontaneously after helping me with the glasses. (woo hoo, the decluttering lesson is being learned!)
* finished filing DVDs into compact sleeves, apart from box sets which were also compact.
* separated out the DVDs we've not actually watched to prompt us to do so (and left those in their boxes for now).
* removed partial sets of TV series where a compact box set now exists on Amazon, and put the box sets on a wishlist.
* sorted the "games and media" shelves to move jigsaws & puzzles to the bottom shelves, then rising through board games and non-child DVDs to CD folders at the top, culling unwanted items as they were moved.
* gave my BookMooch points away and closed my account, to stop me just getting more books with them.
* started on the next set of shelves, which has cocktail ingredients and assorted things for when the table into dining mode, plus enormous amounts of clutter.
* cleared some clutter off a shelf in the study which used to hold my BookMooch books, and moved my husband's to-read pile onto it from the living room.
Counts
In:
* more ring binders, to hold the compact DVD sleeves found by my brother
* notebooks and pens for Open University study
* more clothes for me
* 4 books (3 for me, 1 for child)
Out:
to mother: pint glasses in reasonable condition
charity shop:
* 6 books
* lots of unwanted DVDs (mostly partial tv series)
* several unwanted jigsaws & children's puzzles
* several unwanted toys
recycling:
* 2 more sacks of DVD cases from watched and definitely-keeping DVDs
* misc rubbish found on games & puzzles shelves (old boxes, paper scraps, etc)
* other glasses we don't have room for
* several empty bottles from cocktail shelves
in bin: broken toys
To do:
1. Tidy all the "dining table" things onto one shelf, leaving an empty shelf.
2. Move "cocktail things" shelf up a bit in order to ...
3. Use bigger shelf space to gather all the recipe books scattered around the house into one place.
4. Sort out the miscellaneous "child art materials and magazines" which are currently spread over 4 shelves, mostly out of reach of child.
5. Move books from the bookcase-to-be-removed onto the shelves currently covered in child art materials.
6. Find somewhere for the assorted bags and baby slings currently on the bookcase-to-be-removed
7. Assemble side-table to hold magazines currently on bookcase-to-be-removed
8. REMOVE BOOKCASE (woo hoo)
I begin to feel like I might actually achieve step 8 before the end of the year.
