So. How is everyone?

Like a lot of previous years, I had a ton of energy for tackling my clutter at the beginning of the year; and have lost steam. I'm more aware of the ways that March itself disrupts things for me; there's family birthdays and a school break for the kids, and work becomes horribly busy. Today is my first day off in at least two weeks. (As long as we don't count the 15 minute work phone call. And the emails. So... not quite a day off.)

As March wound down, I thought about what would help me reboot my decluttering. I've decided to set some specific goals for the next few months, and then set goals for the summer.

So. My general idea is to tacke specific areas for the next while. For April I'm going to concentrate on my bedroom, because oh my goodness, it needs it, and some things disappear into the closet of doom and never see the light of day again. (You may remember my bedroom from uncluttering comms in the past, and such items as Giant Box Of Never Unpacked Whatever That's Been Sitting In A Corner For Three Years)

Anyone else working on specific goals? Running out of steam? Need some encouragement?

Well, I'm working my way through the whole house, slowly. Now that I'm done with the studying thing my tack has changed from one out every day, to bulk after a project. It amounts to the same thing, but it's a bit less precise. I've been trying to do at least one big splurge of tidying per week.

At the moment I'm caught up doing a lot of sewing. It will mean the rather large number of badges I had to sew on will not be clutter any more as they'll be attached to my blanket, but it does seem a bit silly in a way. It's making me happy though. I can watch TV/DVDs at the same time! So for now my next project is to finish the bathroom properly and finish my blanket updates.

I'm seeing patches of difference in places. Particularly from the big bag of soft toys I took to a fundraiser this morning. They were mostly small ones (I've barely got rid of any since I was tiny) but I had to move a lot around to get at them. Between that and various other things I'm actually starting to see the possibilities of space in the house not just in my imaginings of it.

The crafting projects are great. I've also made a 'friendship bracelet' style anklet from some of the poorer quality thread/floss Mum gave me ages ago, trying to start using up my supply. And when all my badges are sewn on I'll be a happy bunny. They've been hanging around far too long. Then I have a plan to turn two masks I made for a masked ball this time last year into boxed wall-art. It's just the execution of plans I'm trying to knuckle down with.

There's a filing cabinet in my office I want to tackle by the end of the month. Also, go through my clothes closet and dresser. I made a pretty good start on the sock drawer, and threw out six pairs with holes, but I then I went on travel for a while and completely lost momentum.

Also, we have a Borders closing in town, and I bought more books.
