Weekly (ish) check in
Dec. 21st, 2024 02:17 pmHi Everyone!
This is your check in for the week ending Friday 20th December. Have you found something to declutter? Made a plan that you can implement later? What are your recent decluttering wins? -- big, small, it all counts.
Open to regulars, drive by commenters, and lurkers alike!
(and we'll just quietly ignore the fact that I'm taking advantage of living in a +8UTC timezone to post while it is still Friday somewhere, shall we :) )
note: there might not be a post in a week's time, because I'm going to be somewhere halfway across Australia (epic roadtrip, wahoo!), and I don't know whether I'll have connectivity, let alone the energy to post. I hope that everyone's festive season goes well, and that for all of you the Solstice, Hannukah, Christmas, New Year, and any other festivals happening go fabulously.

Date: 2024-12-21 06:22 am (UTC)I am using having made this post as the impetus I need to go and do some decluttering. I have multiple open boxes across multiple rooms and I need to go through and work out what can go back in to storage, and what is being rehomed.

Date: 2024-12-21 07:00 am (UTC)I have sorted through a pile of stuff. I now have a dedicated box of wadding offcuts for quilt as you go sections, which is good because the next project is possibly going to want that. I have two other nearly full boxes to go out to the garage (these have come home from the storage locker, which we are attempting to empty; first pass is 'yeah, I think I want that' in which case it goes in the garage)

Date: 2024-12-21 11:01 pm (UTC)I wrapped Christmas presents for my niblings and put them in the large box of outgrown clothes that I assembled 8 weeks ago and finally got the whole thing to the courier drop point and sent off.
I have blocked out some time tomorrow for decluttering, and also for attacking the garden, let's see how that plan copes with reality.

Date: 2024-12-22 11:36 am (UTC)Obviously, those boxes were waiting for you to have the presents ready :)
I hope the decluttering plan survived first contact with reality.
Waiting for Twelfth Night.
Unfun fact: Our electric fireplaces caused the circuit breakers to trip and I couldn’t get the stupid power back on, so we had to call an electrician. :p Mom wants to keep the mantle, but maybe she’d agree to eventually sell the actual fireplaces.
Our next door neighbor is offering to buy the electric snowblower, however. :)
Found toolbox, might wait until it’s warmer to sort through the tools in there to see which ones we want to keep and how many others we can store in there while still being able to lift it. Might buy another box if the duffel bag’s zipper breaks because I don’t know if we have enough to justify a small tool chest.

Date: 2025-02-01 04:59 am (UTC)I did a massive cleanup of my room last week, where I donated/recycled/tossed 6 bags of clothes, books, old souvenirs, school notes, craft papers and plastic wrappings.
It was so much work and it took me 8h in total but I was so proud 😭 my room feels livelier now.
