Where's everyone at today?

I bribed a friend to take me to the charity shop yesterday with all my heavy bags, and completely cleared out the donations pile in my spare room, which was exciting.

Then today I went through my stash of used (but reusable) padded envelopes and bubblewrap and so on, and threw most of it away; I haven't needed one of them in years. Half-a-dozen in assorted sizes kept in reserve should be plenty.

Congrats on getting the donations out! And also getting rid of the envelopes and packing materials.

Today I organized my current knitting projects, sorting things into better bags and putting away everything I don't need to have at hand right now.

Nice work on the donations and packaging!

I made up two bags of household recycling and got them OUT OF THE HOUSE. I shredded about an inch of old papers and got the shredded paper OUT OF THE HOUSE. (Do you sense a theme here? I struggle a lot with the practicalities of actually moving things on.)

I went through my basket of gardening sundries, decluttered the junk (mostly empty seed packets — and now I know what seeds I need to buy this year) and rearranged it neatly. The junk went into the current ongoing rubbish bag, which will go OUT OF THE HOUSE on Friday when the bins are collected.

I've also been doing a lot of digital decluttering and organising, so the bin on the computer has been emptied a few times.

Nothing huge, but quite a lot of small wins that are slowly making a difference. I'm planning on taking a similar approach next week, with an effort to follow through with the OUT OF THE HOUSE part.

Many congratulations on clearing the Pile!

This weekend we have been doing. things. inspired in no small degree by [personal profile] rmc28 and this community in general. Let's see...

- took an empty gas canister down to a place that would recycle it and did NOT panic-buy a replacement we don't need
- FINISHED going through all the kitchen cupboards and inventorying/reorganising them (after a very successful rearrangement of where some of the small appliances live that's made keeping the place tidier much easier), so some food has been freecycled and a very small amount has been turned into compost
- rearranged the contents of the vast majority of the garage, to make things we don't need any time soon harder to get to and things we want to sell already, damn it, easier to get to
- posted a small pile of things I don't want any more on FB, asking friends to take it away
- got distracted from some vacuuming (using the big vacuum that we brought in from the garage) by going through a Pile in the corner of the living room, which has yielded lots of stuff we can get rid of

Next step: actually getting rid of things...
