How's your decluttering shaping up this week?
Spouse handled the shredding pile, which had grown out of control. We purposely have a small bin for papers that need to be shredded to encourage handling that task in a timely manner, though finding the time to shred things with the children around can be hard. But it's done now!
A shirt has been added to the donation pile. I've been less busy. This weekend I hope to take at least 3 things to the consignment store, the 3 things I have identified, possibly another thing or two.
I have plans to dig into a bin currently in storage, a bin that holds things kept in my previous (larger, impractical for my needs, sold over a year ago) desk. It's not that I have decluttered our living spaces and need to dig to find something. It's that I think i can make some progress with this particular bin, which may be admitting that I don't need the research from my senior thesis from my undergrad years over a decade ago or that I don't need these baubles that are so cute/fun and can send them away. It's that I've hit a place in decluttering our living areas that... well, there's not as much that easily leaves. My house is NOT sparse, it's not cleaned out, there are many things on our landing zones (counter, chair, etc). What's left is what we use, at least sporadically.
So I am changing up my focus to keep the momentum up and I will revisit our living zones later.
I have given away some sentimental clothing items within the last few months and I haven't missed them, as they were packed away. No regret, no guilt, no nostalgia. I hope to apply the same to the items that were previously in my desk.
