How goes your uncluttering today?

I managed some accidental uncluttering -- I went to clear a space, and realised that there were several piles of things that were easy to go through. Filled the small rubbish bin, and compacted things down to a sensible amount of space. Which meant I could get to a bookshelf I hadn't previously been able to, and found *one* book to rehome as part of my book decluttering.

Progress on the garage.

Recycled the disassembled parts of our old computer after destroying the hard drive. We'll be donating our printer along with the next batch of items our next trip.

Also getting rid of decades-old Miracle Gro and other old garden products.

I've offered some things on fb, though I don't expect anyone to take them. Yesterday I took the small donation to a second hand store--only two items--but the second hand store is not on my daily routes at the moment, so I had to do what I could.

Well done on going out of your way to make sure things still get dealt with.

I didn't get chance to report in at the weekend, but I was pleased that I finally managed to take a whole car load of things to be donated - two large boxes of books, one large box of DVDs, one bag of clothing, two smaller bags of miscellaneous items. Library refused my offer of audio and manga so the audio got donated in with the above items. I've put the manga on one side for the moment as I have two boxes of books that may be going to local schools and I will offer these at the same time. I also supported the local charity where I was making the donation by purchasing most of the plants needed for my garden pots and a new hanging basket arrangement (meaning I could throw away the old hanging basket that was falling apart and make the front of the house look much better :D)

On the downside, despite all the donations, I came home with a carrier bag containing a whole bunch of DVDs and 2 books - one of the book is the first part of a series of which I already have part 2, so this in one respect is not a bad thing... however the rest is a bit of a setback, but as I am looking at most of the DVDs as 'hiring' rather than buying, I'm trying to stay positive and not be too disheartened (a lot lot more went than came back with me).

Since my return, I have identified another few books for donation as they were finished or just because I don't want to read them again. I also have a small pile that I suspect I won't like so am planning to at least experiment with them in the near future in the hope that they too can join the leaving pile.

I have made two attempts to get in touch with a contact at a local school with regard to the 2+ boxes of books they may want, with no response so far. I shall try again, before reaching out to a contact at a different school.

Apart from the ongoing attempts to tackle books and DVDs, the week's main focus has been on tackling the garden so I am creating lots of garden waste. I have a slight problem with this that revolves around all garden waste needing to be taken to the local garden waste recycling point, but this closes 1 hour before I finish work during the week and is only open for part of the morning at the weekend (when I'm in college studying...). I'll have to figure something out for this, but I guess the first step is to finish generating the waste!

Oooh, sounds like your accidental uncluttering went very well. I love it when things to unexpectedly smoothly.

Someone came over to help me yesterday as planned but I made the executive decision to postpone the planned reorganising of my file folders because it is not an urgent project and the rest of my room was way too untidy, making it unpleasant to live in and also hard to access the shelf the file folders live on. So we tidied up my room in general, I managed to throw away a couple of things I had long been planning to throw away, and even managed to hoover the whole room except under the bed (not enough time) and also mop. Now it is so pleasant to spend time here again! I hope I can manage to sweep and mop and tidy up the floor space once a week or at least every second week from now on. We will see. Planning to continue the file reorganisation next Monday.
