How goes the uncluttering this weekend?

I've restarted the 'shelve all the books' project, and started a catalogue check as well. There are now no hardback fiction books on the floor(about 3m worth of books put away, and the books shuffled and shuffled and shuffled), and no DVDs. I've found two duplicate books, three duplicate DVDs, and a box worth of jigsaw puzzles I don't think anyone has touched in years. Have someone coming to pick one DVD up, some other items promised to a friend I don't see often, and the rest have to be run past the rest of the family.

Spouse cleaned up a desk area today. I've added two necklaces and a skirt to the donation pile, to counteract the necklace and skirt I've purchased. I mended a rip in a boot after waiting two weeks.

Good work on balancing the ins with some outs -- and fixing that boot. (Two weeks is really not that long a time...!)

Oh, nice work on shelving the books -- that's very impressive!

No decluttering here, other than removing more weeds from the garden and getting them into the garden waste collection bin ready for the next collection day.

My dad passed this week, my mom this time last year. So my sister and I are readying their house for sale. The past two days, we took a truckload of large bags (about 16 30-gallon size) to the dump, and an equal number of bags of clothes and stuff to Goodwill. Long way to go, but we hope to be done in about 6 weeks.

Seeing this coming has spurred both of us into cleaning our own spaces. (Less vigorously, because we've spent so much time helping Mom & Dad.) But when we tend to think, "Well, it might be useful someday..." we stop ourselves and either donate it or toss it.

My condolences. Clearing your parents house for sale is a hard thing to do and it's good that you and your sister have each other for support. Don't forget to take care of yourselves and take breaks.
