Weekend Uncluttering

How has your weekend gone? Have you found time and energy to declutter?

After taking the day off work on Friday for health reasons, I gave myself yesterday 'off' as well, and pretty much stayed in bed. This meant that today, I had energy, and managed to get in to the disaster that is the spare room. I started inventorying the various skate and dance items that need to go -- got through the skates, and found a cross-over that it turns out still fits Youngest, and is now a colour that they are using again (changing dance schools will do that). And Youngest and I each identified one piece of clothing to go.

Plus, a friend has come and bagsied two of the Trollope books that I know I'm going to give away when I've read them.

I also made the decision that the box of padded envelopes I was holding on to from an enterprise long dead could go, and have found a charitable group a couple of suburbs over that will accept them. So once I work out how to get there during working hours, that will be one less box in the house!

Three of the six things I donated to the charity auction sold, and I can donate another one of those things today, so four things out. I put two more things in the donation pile and donated it. I cleaned out the fridge a bit, getting rid of dressings no one will use or have gone bad. One more sweep of the pantry to find several items Best By 2016 or so. I'm not a huge fan of best by dates, but two years ago? Nope.

Then we brought some tons of stuff from a party yesterday. I have to go through it without the children so I can sneak out what I can.

Sounds like some excellent progress on the "out" front. Good luck with sneaking out some of the things that came in. :-)

somehow the good candy ended up in my desk drawer, I don't know what happened!

And I remembered a friend of mine is generally amused when I send her "care packages" of random stuff... so to the post office!

Yay for venturing into the spare room and making some progress. Also yay for letting the padded envelopes go AND finding a good home for them. Good luck with finding a time to get them there!

It wasn't quite over the weekend, but I took the shredded paper to the recycling centre today, along with some small electricals. Now I have space to reorganise some things and sort some other things out!

Good going on getting the shredded paper out of the house, with extra items as well. I hope the space for reorganising helps with the sorting things out!

And today, I managed to drop the box off! Given that they close up at 4pm, I wasn't sure how I was going to get there and do a full day's work as well, but it turns out that having to drop a kid at school for a before school test at 7am will get me to work a full hour early....
