Not much got done this week - too much going on in other segments of life. I bought a new suitcase, which meant I had to re-arrange things on the suitcase shelf at the top of a closet. We found one suitcase - probably 50 years old, with good sturdy vinyl but a very sticky surface. We tried scrubbing it, but the stickiness remains. It's probably some sort of vinyl decay. That suitcase is going to the garage to be used for storage. It's still sturdy, with a good zipper, but not something to use for travel.
We also found 3 older blankets and an old mattress pad shoved behind the suitcases. These are in the stack to give away; the mattress pad may get tossed; it is only good for packing material.
I had to rummage in the armoire where my sweaters live to find something to wear to the Books to Prisoners workroom, which is very cold - last tested temp 53. On Thursday someone was working on the heating system of the building, an old post office. There are no reports about the heat.
Anyway, I made a mess looking for a warm cardigan. Today I pulled out all the sweaters and started considering them for discard. I am still keeping too much, but 3 items made it to the bag for donation. This lives in my bedroom until it is full; then it goes to one place or another that accepts clothing donations.
So I have not actually gotten anything out of the house, but a few things are on track to leave. Decisions were made!

Date: 2017-11-18 08:50 pm (UTC)I found half a dozen old tradesman directories/booklets with useful information from the council to toss into the recycling. We get several different tradesman directories each month and I'm very good at only keeping the latest one, but these were more one-off things, so had been lingering.

Date: 2017-11-18 11:09 pm (UTC)So much of our clutter difficulties involve postponed decisions, or uncertainty, of decisions that do not quite become final.I think we remind each other of those issues as we keep on with the process
