I haven't been faithfully keeping track, but I'm definitely still doing pretty well on the in:out ratio. As usual, underestimating the outs, although this time I didn't keep track of ins very well, either.
Previous net: 276 out
Out:
1 mini food processor (to be replaced later)
2 bags + 1 box stuff to Goodwill (arbitrarily 20 items)
1 basket fabric
2 boxes fabric
3 medieval/Renaissance dresses
1 Elizabethan hat
1 pair socks
3 office boxes of books (arbitrarily 60 items)
2 stuffed animals
1 length of velvet
Total out: 91
In:
1 pair dance sneakers
Assorted insect collection stuff for class (let's call it 10 items: some of this will go away at the end of the semester, at least)
4 books
1 skirt
1 CD
1 textbook + 1 lab manual
1 Critter Keeper
Total in: 20
Running total: 276 + (92 -20) = 348
I finally got rid of most of the fabric pile that had been sitting in my living room for MONTHS, and sold part of it, which was nice. I also purged books pretty ruthlessly, including about half of my cookbooks (for a while I had a...cookbook impulse-buying problem, which resulted in many large, heavy illustrated cookbooks I never used). The cookbook-purging was thanks to the moral support of an awesome friend, who also helped me go through part of the kitchen and get rid of expired/no longer edible food--a process that isn't done yet, but will probably be my next project.
I'm planning to buy a condo in the next couple months if all goes well, and the more stuff I can get rid of before then, the less stuff I have to move. I'll be purging again (and inventorying for insurance purposes) as we unpack. Things are slowly, slowly starting to feel more manageable.
Next:
-Go by the fancy recycling place and recycle the two boxes of misc stuff in my trunk.
-Have another SCA garage sale table at the next event I go to. Give away or donate whatever's left over.
-Clean out all kitchen cabinets.
-Sell box of natural dye stuff I'm probably never going to use.
-Mail some packages.
