Right now my living room is a bit of a mess; I am sorting the boxes of books stored in my garage; about a dozen, that I packed in a hurry in August when a friend came to visit and to sleep on my fold-out couch.

I am sorting through them, and the new piles that grew since, and now have 5 banker's boxes ready to take to Books to Prisoners next week. There are still books strewn around, and I am probably going to end up with about a dozen boxes in the garage, but many of the books in them will be different. These are books I still think I want to read, or can't yet make a decision to move on, but at least I have looked at them and have a reasonable idea of what is there. By Sunday evening I hope to have the futon and the coffee table, currently stacked with books, with clear surfaces. I plan to add at least one more box to the Move Out pile. I will also have a stack of books I intend to read, or at least skim, and decide if they are worth keeping.

I am also trying to commit to bringing one box in from the garage every month and decide what to do with the books. I am also going to try to write a bit of an essay for myself about what sort of books I gather and what I want to keep. This may be a bit of a deep look at my reading psyche - I have returned to writing Morning Pages and this thinking is already starting to show up there.

For me uncluttering is certainly about more than a tidy house.
