new week, new check-in

How did last week go for you all? Progress you want celebrated, or situations you'd like commiseration for?

I acquired another couple of pans (via Freecycle): both plausibly very useful, but I need to actually try out the new (stainless steel) wok in order to convince myself to let go of the existing needs-seasoning-and-I-just-don't-have-the-cope-for-that-right-now-apparently one.

Four more bowls to match some I already had, for 50p each, from a Household Waste Recycling Centre. They have been washed and put away in their designated space. :)

Also acquired a stack of paving slabs (again from Freecycle, thank you Freecycle) for specific use at my allotment. They are distributed appropriately, so my greenhouse is much more navigable, which un/fortunately means it is time to try decluttering that, too...

Did not buy a new piece of plastic for the greenhouse because I found an old spare. \o/ This almost certainly means there's one missing from somewhere in the set-up and I should probably work out where, but it's Clearly Not Important and, hey, greenhouse! Instead of a sad wonky frame and a mildly alarming stack of toughened glass!

And got rid of:
  • the rest of the set of Freecycle pans. (I wound up offering to take all of the ones the Freecycler was offering, and take over responsibility for distributing them -- the person who gave them to me is currently surviving a House Clearance Saga, was willing to drop them off with me rather than having me collect, and was very clearly relieved at the concept of any further logistics re that set of things no longer being their problem. We designated a new Charity Shop Box on the assumption that no-one would ask for them, and after a week we'd take them to the charity shop; in fact someone did ask for them, and they are already gone!)
  • our stash of expanded polystyrene, to the not-quite-local tip Household Waste Recycling Centre, because the actually local one is under some kind of weird hybrid management and doesn't accept polystyrene; the slightly further away one that does was a trip we combined with pan delivery, though!
  • a small stash of toothpaste tubes and pumps from various bottles, to the Recycle at Boots scheme!
  • two empty SodaStream canisters to a local retailer of same (we now have a large CO2 cylinder we can refill our remaining small ones from...); turns out you get £1 per bottle you return if you're not buying new ones!

And this week? I have finished all my current (digital) library loans and I'm expecting to have at least a little time before the next batch of holds show up (doubtless all at once), so It Is Time to read one of the hardcopy books I've not yet got around to but have designated for probable donation once I have read them. Here goes!

Wow! Congrats on all of those achievements.

I have decluttered my sock drawer, which was getting too full. I have found a home for the very lovely knee high socks that I never ever wear (because if it is cold enough for knee highs, it's cold enough for tights, and I don't wear them as an accessory), but I still have far too many that need rehoming. Possibly into the bin, although I'm still thinking about better alternatives.

Congratulations! That is an epic array of achievements.

I've had a very busy week and done almost nothing on the house, but I did read a couple of books off the epic to-read pile, and make progress on another, which is useful.

Progress! Anything that whittles down a pile is a win!

Wow, you did great!

I have been slowly plugging along at several projects, almost none of which are physical, but all of which are taking up a lot of brain space.

I have located an electronics recycling facility and can take things any Saturday I remember to do it.

Clearing mental space is as important as physical space! I hope you can complete some of those projects soon.

And well done on finding somewhere to recycle electronics — we all seem to be struggling with that.

Oh, some very impressive progress there!

I've had a slow-ish week on the decluttering front (busy doing other things) but I did manage to offload some board games on to my sister, add some others to top up another box of donations, and make a little bit of progress in the garage. I also did a lot of digital decluttering over the weekend, so my laptop has room to breathe.

Plans for this week: I didn't have time to check if the charity shop was accepting donations last week, so I must do that over the next couple of days and see if I can get rid of another box. I also need to tackle two or three boxes that are taking up space in the living room: things that ended up stored there "temporarily" and really need to go (back) to forever homes. Plus maybe a bit more work in the garage.

Many small wins!
