mid-week check-in

Who has time for decluttering this week?  It's Thanksgiving in the US and the start of the holiday season.  Lots of holidays in the next six weeks or so, in all faiths and countries.  Some involve material goods and gifts.  I like the eating holidays best, myself.  Bring on the pie!

I've tried to clear some more space for the impeding gifts for the children.  I've listed another 3 things for sale as a lot, and am gathering up bits for another toy lot for sale.  Added a thing to the handmedown bin and two things to the donation bin.  I think I have identified some headphones that are broken and can be recycled.

I donated a CD to the library's upcoming book/media sale.  I added some sweets from our pantry to our holiday feasting for this weekend.  I gave away 7 or so skeins of yarn I've accepted I won't use.  Small progress is still progress.

I'm attempting to clear the front bedroom and have thrown away a box of general junk and identified at least half a dozen books to go to the charity shop. I've also put 4 boxes of books and other stuff on one side to be sorted into keep, donate and throw. Next I need to work down the pile on the desk in there.

Sounds like excellent progress so far. Good luck with working through the pile on the desk!

No holidays here in the near-ish future, instead we are doing all the end of the year windups, and I'm running short of hours in the week. I hope your being busy is more enjoyable! I was out of the house/on the go for 15-16 hours yesterday, urgh.

I've finished off the last of a set of tea bags I'm not planning on replacing, so now I have to work out what to do with the empty jar. I really like these jars, but they are the wrong shape for the tea drawer, and I don't need one anywhere else at the moment, but replacing it will be difficult. I've got it sitting on the corner of my work desk near the door -- anyone who makes a 'oh, I could use one of those' comment as they walk past the door will get it. Otherwise, probably in the jam jars cupboard, which is a bit bare at the moment.

And this weekend looks to be a major win for decluttering. Others in the nearby streets have started putting stuff on their verges, so I'm assuming this weekend is bring out your dead weekend ('curbside collection'). Which means that the large objects near the washing line will all be gone!!!!

Ooh, good luck on getting rid of all those large objects! I'm sure it will make a huge difference visually when they're gone. :-)

Yesterday I started going through the file cabinet and recycling/shredding papers that we don't need anymore. I try to do this every few years or so. I finished one drawer, unfortunately the remaining drawers have categories that take more time to go through. But I will keep chipping away at it!

Accepting that I won't use yarn is difficult - go you for taking that step!

Oof! Papers are such hard work, aren't they? Well done for getting one drawer finished and good luck with chipping away at the others.

Happy Holidays! I hope you get to enjoy much delicious pie!

I did another small DIY project, so the materials for that are no longer "clutter" but in their rightful place. I also got rid of another trash bag of stuff that had been accumulating for a couple of weeks.
