What are this weekend's discoveries in 'things that will leave the house'?

I've taken two things off the shelf in the front hall that were going to be passed on to friends, and put them in the op-shop box. The first is probably no longer needed by the person in question, and the second I wasn't able to pass on to them at the yearly meet up, and I'm not keeping it another year. I also put the two glass bangles that Youngest wants to get rid of into a container. I'm not sure they will survive the trip, but I hope so.

Pad the bangles somehow? Like if something cloth is departing, wrap them in it?

box was mostly books. But I packed the box snuggly around the container, and carried it carefully, and they looked fine?

A coworker mentioned she's collecting for the animal shelter and that they need towels, so I have a small bag of towels I never use that can go.

Decluttering with a purpose!

Absolutely! They'll need to hang out for a week until the full staff is back from holiday, but they'll get there.

Spouse is cleaning out areas! Several shoes boxes or bins of that size have been emptied (generally into the trash). I've got 3 things ready to ship, two things currently offered, and a few more things to the garage sale pile.

While I was packing to go away the other week, I identified several pairs of shorts that aren't ever going to fit me again. I've managed to move them to a place where they will get picked up and taken to the charity shop this week.

I am slowly making progress. I threw out some paper stuff and a box of old video cassettes. And I sorted out six books that can go to the shared shelf in the next town.

Slow progress is the goal! Good job on throwing things out (video cassettes! I suspect I still have some of those) and finding books to rehome.

Had a bit of a sudden rush of getting rid of stuff earlier today - one large trash bag of clothes and bedding to go to charity shop at some point and a similar size bag of rubbish, plus a pile of cardboard that was packaging. I've also been slowing adding more books to one or other of the boxes to go (I'm wondering if I can summon energy and inclination to do a car boot with the books (and any lurking DVDs) won't bother with the clothes - too difficult to organise for display but I reckon I must be approaching a car full of books.

That's a great amount of success there! Good luck with selling the books, if you go down that route.

I was rearranging and putting away some books in my living room bookcase last week when I realized I had books on both of my end tables, so I put the ones that would fit in the bookcase. I also found a stack of paperback classics that are all available in the public domain, so I got rid of those. I mailed two of them on Friday for book swaps and put one in the Little Free Library.

The getting rid of books in the public domain is a good one! I threatened to start pulling books to get rid of while in the middle of another task, and all the kids came down on me like a tonne of bricks about 'not today'. Hopefully I'll remember when I next get to looking at the shelves what it was I was thinking of getting rid of.
