Mid-week uncluttering

Have you achieved anything towards your unclutter goals today?

I haven't identified anything new, but I dropped the overflowing box of Stuff! at the op-shop. Mind you a) I also bought more books (but some of them are to be gifts) and b) this was on the way back from friend S's house, where I picked up craft supplies and books that they were decluttering. Which is not really helping with the 'all books catalogued and on shelves' and 'all craft materials on the shelves in the back hall' tasks. But I am planning on a cull of my craft items (to go to the other friend of S's who is getting this material, after I take out what is useful for planned costumes), so there is that.

I sent a thing to a friend the other day--fit in an regular envelope with a single stamp--and will send two more things today. I'll drop off a donation to the library, the secondhand store, and textile recycling today--all small donations, but donations nonetheless!

Still have one thing offered on fb, I don't think anyone will take it, and plans for one more thing to sell--selling sometimes works better because the thing is seen as worth money, therefore worth time to pick up or buy. As much as a $5 price tag can signify worth!

Good job on getting things out of the house!

I know what you mean about putting a price on things -- when we replaced our too small fridge, I was unable to give it away, but managed to sell it for a reasonable amount to a tradie who wanted a beer fridge in the workshop for Friday afternoon drinks!

I just found a friend who will take the thing I was planning on selling! I just need to clean it up and coordinate passing it along. YAY.

As I get dishes clean, I'm sorting them into mine and hers. Hers will be leaving the apartment At Some Point but until that point hopefully they will be boxed up in her bedroom and out of my way.

I don't think this counts, per se, because it's not my stuff to begin with (and moving out was her decision entirely, I wasn't asked my opinion), but hey.

I need to go through my bedroom and weed duplicates of art supplies, if nothing else.

Not having any real knowledge of your sister, but having known a lot of people move house -- unless she is super organised as a baseline, I'd say low chance.*

* actually, I'd say you've two chances -- Buckley's and none, but I believe that to be an Australianism.

I'm on seven-days for the foreseeable future and my next day off is likely going to be in July, so I'm basically looking at treading clutter and not making things worse, at least? I did do a little pick-up in the living room earlier, but nothing too impressive.

Oh my, July sounds like a long way away for a next day off. Sounds like a sensible choice, just leaving the clutter alone until then!

We might be able to have someone help out from the next shop over, but we don't know yet. That might give me a weekend off between now and July, maybe.

But yeah. I'm just going to let sleeping clutter lie and try not to make it worse.

I successfully didn't add (much) to the clutter on a trip with a strong shopping component. \o/ Plus two books, but books are a special category unto themselves.

I've been tkaing sort of a cleaning break after getting the craft stuff done. Next up is organization in the craft supplies, so that all the good work we did destashing them doesn't get lost.

Good job on the not adding (much) to the house with the shopping trip. I sympathise on sorting craft supplies -- it seems to be one of those jobs where if you take your eyes off it partway through, it goes backwards.

I have several small dollhouses I was building until my daughter was born. I had the furniture I wanted to use for each house in shoe boxes, which aren't very sturdy. I looked around the house and had the exact number of shoe box sized plastic containers as I had shoe boxes, so I transferred the furniture to the plastic boxes. I also found a bigger empty plastic container in my basement (my mom had tons of Rubbermaid and Sterilite containers), so I cleaned that up and put the dollhouse shingles in that. Now everything is neatly stacked and there's room around it to get to the bookcases.

Organisation for the win! I hope that eventually, you and your daughter can appreciate the doll houses together.

:) Yes, I hope so too. She already likes to look at them, but she's too little to play with them. My mom and I built a dollhouse together when I was a teenager, so I'm hoping to build one with my own daughter when she's older.

Thank you. It's especially nice that my mom and I built a dollhouse together because she passed away a few years ago, but I will always have the memories of us working on the dollhouse together.
